Code fault iveco

Before I go to the useless feckers in town thought I'd ask on here.... little wagon sometimes won't start and shows a key type symbol and code message .... key doesn't appear to have a battery so will it have a transponder ?

When it happens do you try the other key?

receiver coil/pick up around the key hole moved/become dislodged ?? and 'out of range' perhaps .... or dirty contacts/connections to it ???

Only have 1 x ignition key ... the other is for fuel cap.

Will have a look and see if anything around that area looks suspicious

Iveco are prone to this I'm guessing as quite a few I've driven have had 3 or 4 different ignition keys rattling round the cab.
One I drive occasionally has to be turned then back and will only start the second time you turn it.
Another I used to drive must of had a clutch switch that hadn't worked for years then decide to work one day and ever since required the clutch down to start

if it's anything like the one I had, having to replace ALL the fuses in the fuse box could bankrupt you ... acres of 'em

After a bit of a faff they decided it's either the receiver or key new key on order.

Sorry fellas but I'm reviving what is poss the forums most life sucking thread (apart from maybe covid).
Went to see iveco bloke to see where my long awaited key was and it hadn't been ordered, change of management and new man said old guy was useless.... anyhow he reckons itsnot key but the receiver, result , only 30 quid but nor quite as they are discontinued
What a shower of shite - any ideas ?

£30 for a discontinued item is still quite expensive, I would normally just charge a tenner for something I don’t have.

Yeah maybe they can reprogram another at the dealers if I find one.
Presume it's not something someone with a laptop can take off ?

I'd assume anyone with iveco easy software would be able to sort it

Is the aerial actually coded to the vehicle? A lot of times the aerial is just a receiver for the key and transmits that data to a dedicated immo control unit

I asked the question at the dealer and he said it was but wouldn't surprise me if they were wrong.
