Cleaning up a grease nipple thread

I’ve got a grease nipple missing on a pin on my blade on the hitachi zx70 . I tried to put one in tonight but the thread in the hole appears damaged slightly . I got a dremmel in on the end of it but it hasn’t helped . The nipple has a fine thread and as nipples go it’s quite a large thread . Actually Probably the same as most on the diggers . The socket is an 11 mm .
Any idea what I need to tidy up the threads so I can get a nipple back in there ?

Probably M10 fine or extra fine (M10x1.0 or M10x1.25)
A 1/8" BSP is very close and will go in part way (but is under size and will probably leak or fall out)

Grease nipple's are the worst, you get Metric, Metric fine, metric extra fine, BSP, NPT, UNF, UNC, UNEF, BSF, knock-in, knock-off, tat head, ball type ,ISO , type-D the list goes on.
The nipple shop has a few but not all.
So much for standardisation

I have a thread cleaning set, kind of like a tap/die cutters but just for restoring threads, handy to have.
Not sure if it goes small enough for nipples though

1/8” bsp. 11mm hex is the same as 7/16”.

Thanks Brian . Would these be the most common used grease nipples on plant then ? They seem to be the most common on my machines .
I will get a 1/8 bsp thread cleaner now !

is there a matching sized grease fitting somewhere else on the machine you can match the thread with it is probably metric on hitachi but so many different thread sizes and it may be tapered but i doubt it is.

It’ll be the same as the rest on the machine . It’s the nipple on the blade pin . Are hitachis metric nipples then ? I have a box of nipples and I don’t know wether they are metric of bsp but they fit all my machines .

Sorry mate, didn’t see your reply. Don’t think just because it’s Jap that the fittings will be metric. They use metric bolts but hydraulic hoses, nipples, etc, are often BSP, JIC, ORFS (imperial pitch). Metric nipples look a noticeably coarser pitch than BSP.
