There is a member on here who has been born and raised (through no fault of his own) in a strange backwater with a very small, proud population sadly lacking in genetic diversity.
Everyone he knows is a relative, mostly close, sometimes with two (or more) direct connections.
As a result of this limited gene pool there is a prevalence of birth defects in his local area. Some are obvious - spare fingers, a thick indecipherable West Country accent, a fear of travelling more than 3 miles from home, a deep suspicion of anyone they aren’t related to.
Other ‘unique attributes’ are less obvious to the unwitting observer but include a strongly argumentative nature, a love of ferrous metal (particularly heavily oxidised), an incredible ability to smell a bargain, kleptomaniac tendencies towards anything at all found in the bottom of a hedge, and an affinity and understanding of ancient old s**t.
(His name is Rory and if you live anywhere near him he would probably buy your machinery, which is the meaning of Mogman’s post).
