well I could used to carry a W size oxy bottle on each shoulder ....... but I was 35 years younger then
....... much wiser now -- use a bottle trolley and make two trips

Gravity is always your friend getting them off, bit harder getting them back on always drag them up a plank if can’t lift them

old aldi special hadn't been started in awhile. Wouldn't go so took spark plug out. Putting it back in appears to be crossthreading. Load of junk

The NGK equivalent is a BPR7ES or you can use a Bosch WR5DC

Yeh spotted that Ngk equivalent. Tbf I got a pair of like for like for 2.99 delivered on amazon next day so coming tomoz. Hopefully I've not f***ed the thread. If I have its going for spares or repair on ebay. How is everyone else getting on with theirs?

Mine’s been great - I lent it to a mate who left it outside for a few weeks and the exhaust let rain in which filled the sump with water…
Quick drain, fill with fresh oil, run it up, drain and refill and it’s running perfectly tbh!
For the money it was a very good buy.

Wonder if the fuel had just gone stale in mine it was down to dregs I topped it up with fresh but still no joy

Yeah, mine too has been brilliant. It can be stood for months a will fire literally first pull.

New plug in still no joy. I took air filter off and looked for some easy start i used to have. Couldn't find it. Sprayed some other solvent s**t in there and it sounded like it wanted to go. Don't know whether to order some proper easy start.
Annoying cause I have a genny with 4 stroke engine and I've gone years without starting that before and fired straight up. I dont know whether the fuel has gummed anything up in the wacker apparently modern fuel goes off dead quick. Is it worth draining and filling with fresh? Even though I know the genny would run all day on the fuel in my can

get yourself some carb cleaner .. maybe the jets're gummed up - the carb cleaner will dissolve it and it'll run sweet on it too to get it started
the easy start'll get it running - on the ether - but won't address any gumming

If an engine like that doesn't fire up on brake cleaner sprayed into the intake then there is something else wrong, and it can only really be the spark.

That's another thing I had some of, brake cleaner. Used to service the old gas nail gun with it. Moving house i have either binned, lost or packed this stuff up in some obscure box. Will order some brake or carb cleaner

Daft question, but how long had the fresh petrol been standing? I’ve had the same problem with my Aldi special when it’s stood any time. Advice so far is good, you might need to nip the carb off and blast through with carb cleaner, also do the lines and tap.

The "fresh" petrol probably been in the can 6 months. I had the gennny on a job just before Xmas and was firing up fine on the same fuel. The fresh petrol might even be from just before Xmas too I can't remember if I filled the can. Tbf the wacker probably hasn't been started in 2 or 3 years. If I do get it going ill run it dry this time. The spark plug thread annoys me I've never had one go in that that before it was like it was made of cheese

I think that's a difficult question to answer because it assumes all "petrol" is the same thing.
The petrol I buy in Oz seems to last years without causing problems in "normal performance" engines except for a (now long discontinued) fuel sold be Shell called "Ultimate". This one caused a lot of plug fouling in bikes and was considered to have a shelf life measured in weeks.
The petrol I buy in SEAsia smells strongly of toluene (paint thinners). Apart from being very bad for your health, it acts as an octane booster, meaning it'll compensate for other short comings.

If any fuel sat more than month or two I'm using aspen etc. Never have any hassles now.
New pump fuel just seems to be crap now. Smell alone seems weird now.

I'll only buy E5 for the 'garden gear' (or anything of any age - P38, etc.) put E10 in't Kia 'cos it's built for it
Most 'E5', isn't anyway .... it's straight non-blended fuel (no eco/ethanol crap)
