What is the point in scrapers.. What is the advantage over a digger ? say one that requires a dozer to push it?

Self loading, fast turn around, spreads the discharged load out, unaided .... for big volumes they're so much faster ... push dozer only required in heavy going .. can work in pairs one aiding the other to load alternately ... less manpower required ... dare say there's a lot more and others more qualified will chime in

With good haul road nothing will touch them for bulk muck a 657 carries about 35 cu mtrs heaped about 1000 HP with both engines we but won on weigh bridge loaded I think it was around 120 tons and travels about 33 MPH I preferred the 631 scraper to drive

They look good parked up in one’s yard 6 months of the year when it’s too wet to run them , kinda like a trophy which you have paid for yourself…..
