Hi.

I have tried searching, but couldn't find anything. Has anyone had experience buying machinery off of Ebay?

Thanks.

I wouldn’t buy a machine off eBay or anywhere off the net with out going/have someone to make sure it’s genuine and check it over.

“ A fool and his money is soon parted”

With the amount of scammers on eBay I wouldn’t buy anything like that without viewing first, and being 100% sure it’s theirs to sell!

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
on the other hand ..... if you make the effort and are able to view ;) .. i.e. it's genuine ...

there is stuff to be had ...... but be prepared for a lot of trekking .. The 'Drema was a 500 mile round trip :giggle:
and I looked at a lorradogs before striking gold (y)

Trawling and regularly, is the name of the game on Ebay .... you'll soon learn to spot the scams ;)

However ... I don't believe there are any bargains to be had there any more ......
better off buying from the likes of Ross (@Regy53 ) here, or Johnny Barnes (who is on ebay) http://barnesplant.co.uk/ ...
known quantities with track records and recommendations aplenty ....
Barnsey is a long time friend and very local to me ... giving stuff a look over is quite do-able, but TBH John's as straight as they come and you can rely on what he tells you
Ross too has plenty of happy feedback .... and runs this place (y)

Thanks all.

I did bid on one and got it, but the very first message he sent me made me suspicious. I'm going to sort it with Ebay this morning. I enquired about another one from another seller and he started talking about Escrow. I went to Barnes plant the other day, both Jonathan and his father were very helpful.

You wont win a machine that exists on ebay. Its full of scammers and potentially stolen machines. Really anybody who has a legit machine for sale should have it has a classified or buy it now ad. Even then dont send money unless you can google the company, etc etc. A lot of people buy from us blind but then we are very tracable.

I agree. The one ad was classified, but I could tell he was full of it. The very first one I come across a couple of weeks ago had a website with telephone number and I even checked out his business on companies house. Everything added up, but he kept skirting around me going to view them.
It seems like the ads asking for no VAT are the scams.

There's scams for everything on eBay. I saw a utv worth £15,000 up for £5000 with only 2 pictures. One of the buggy and one of the contact details.

I have bought machines and higher value items off Ebay before and had no hassle! But you need to know the golden rule,,,, if its to good to be true it probably is!!

As other have said, never part money until you are sure the machine exists, genuine sellers will have no bother doing a deal over ebay or the phone on the understanding that you want to inspect it on payment/collection!

Good luck with your search
