No, 3cx is a backhoe loader. The typical JCB most people think of.

I'm guessing a 3cx means 3 tonne

I don't think that would work as the ground is ridiculously wet because theres a few springs on the ground behind and it's running all over my plot. It's also on a bit of a gradient. How do these differ to a tracked machine?

If these have good traction then this would be much better.

If it's wet and on a gradient forget it. Don't even go there with a 3cx, they have their place but that isn't it.

I'd look at a larger track machine and just pay a haulier every few years when you want to move it. Much less nickable too.

Also a 2009 with 900 hours?! 90 hours a year doesn't sound right to me

I have a 2010 in the yard with 445 hours, needs a oil seal which is in progress just waiting for parts. your right to be concerned. However if your a digger man you can tell as soon as you pull the levers.

Like you say he will know when he views. What kind of money would someone lose selling a 10 year old machine with 500 hours? Makes you wonder if hiring would have been a better choice although a lot to be said for it being there when you need it

not as much as you think probably about 7k in this instance. Sounds a lot but its the old thing, its needed when its needed. We litrally use a forklift for 3 mins a day to move concrete barriers around, and very rarely otherwise but for them 3 mins nothing else would do it

I went to the dealer today and that particular machine has been reserved until Tuesday. The buyer is trying to sort finance, but I've been told to call back and if it hasn't been paid for then it will be available. It has had 1 owner from new direct from a national power company. Can they actually fiddle with the hours it has done?
Ross, are these your own machines or are they for sale?
I think that I wouldn't add more than about 1500 hrs over a 10 year period and the calculations come to around 11k to hire. If it cost the same to buy one, but it was available as and when I needed it then it will be worthwhile.
