He quoted me £18500 for aKX018-4. He said JCB are going backwards and good luck if I buy one. Volvo is a done up Pel-job and Bobcat is Doosan and is old technology.

Any rep that needs to slag off another firms product is clearly a cockwomble. Kubota are still using f****ng black and white LCD screens from the 90's so to turn round and slag others off as being old tech is calling the pot black.

Yeh, that’s a big no no in my book too, obviously feel threatened by the competition, had that with the local Volvo rep round here, slagged every other manufacturer off, needless to say, talks on a machine soon stopped.

Gotta agree with the others here. You should be able to sell a product without slagging off the competition as you never know when you might end up selling one! Out of that list i'd have "the done up Pel-job", Volvo are a really under-rated machine. Nice to use with a quality feel about them. But price does come into the equation. I can't comment directly on the new takeuchi but I'm told they ain't like the TB016 they replaced, which I rated as a good all-rounder and can see why they were big in the hire market. Kubota are an excellent choice too, they re-sell no bother and they aren't bad to drive I do however think the zero tail are a bit tipsy so it'd be a KX for me...

I asked about extending the warranty and he said they're bomb proof and with what I'm using it for, nothing will happen to it in 5 years.

Probably won't, but for £400 it was a no brainer to have another two years when I bought my 1.7t...

If he was that confident he'd offer it for free, wouldn't he? Instead, he slags off the other brands and can't be arsed to look into third party warranty extensions for you.

The dx 27 is doosans own machine and i believe a 5 or 6 t is doosans own. But the dx27 is/has been replaced by the dx26 which is a bobcat

The DX27Z is I think the same as an E27Z. The Bobcat E27, which is Bobcat's premium 2.7 tonner- conventional tailswing and has a bigger engine and pump and more capacity all round. Confused me when I was looking!

When buying a new machine, you can extend the warranty past whatever the dealer offters with a third party scheme. Mine are with MetalMasters. Cheap when new, as the condition of the machine is a known entity. This does involve some paperwork on the dealer's side (obviously),and if he can't be bothered to do that?

The smaller machines. Ie e10 e17 19 e26 plus some others are all bobcat machines painted orange and badged doosan and called dx rather than e.

Other way round mate- Bobcat is an American company, and the machines are made in Doosan's factory in Korea. I've seen Doosan written somewhere on one of my Bo[bcat's too.

Just bought a long arm canopy E19.
Grades well, loads of reach, very powerful. Much more than a 1.5t machine. Reach and depth not much less than a 2.5. Only thing to be aware of is fill the 39inch ditcher and at full reach it will always lift a track and also front to back if on a slope without blade down. And it won’t fit in a shopping container....
I also got the comfort pack which gives you a better seat and aux/slew on the sticks. I wanted to run a tilt bucket without foot pedals... the response on the slew button is a little delayed but quite precise so not sure I made the right decision there!
Looks big against a E17 in their yard.
With keypad, 3 year warranty and three buckets I paid £17.5k £1750 deposit and £262 per month on bobcat 0% finance over 5 years.
Standard E19 canopy was £16.9k
Have an E10 too, not a single prob in 800 hours. Absolutely amazing bit of kit. Love it. Paint is ok but not great.

I do like the look of that, but I would want one with a cab so would need to keep my Hyundai so I had a canopy machine too! Might hire one for a week and see how I go.

The delay on the offset- my E27 is the same. I can see why they do it- to keep the boom swing from being too agressive. I use mine as a second aux on a rotator a lot of the time, and don't really notice it. My main aux is on the sticks too, and is pretty nice to use.

Dealers talk to each other the same as we do, they also more or less stick to there own areas to....with regard giving you his “experience of the other makes”, he should of just stayed neutral and said nothing, the moment they start “giving you there experience” of different brands I walk away, there was a tilty rep who was know for that to!!!....they lost the sale!!

Well I ended up with a black and yellow one and red and black didn’t really have a presence at the time.

Don't get too caught up in our digger talk @deuce22, we are all machine fanatics and could talk all day on the merits of each brand. Price, backup, warranty and finance deal are what is going to sell you the machine. The rest of it if I'm honest is neither here nor there.
My two cents for prosperity of the thread
The JCB is nicely spec'd and the cab is a vast improvement but I'm not sure I'd buy one as they are now quite expensive.
The Takuchi I don't like, too basic in the cab and slow. No fuel guage either if I remember correctly?
The Kobelco is lovely to drive but I don't like the colour and the cab is too small
The Volvo looks nice, haven't driven a new one but would be a contender.
I really like the new CAT's, (new generation ones made by CAT) they are growing on me
I really like the Wacker Neusons in this size too.
Bobcat is up there but prefer it in the Doosan orange.
The U17 Kubota is probably the one I would actually buy as its a brilliant little digger but no cab. The cab ones just don't look right for me.
The Hitatchi needs a stepladder to get into it

I have called CAT, but I’m waiting for them to get back to me. I’ve started to focus more on kubota as the fact that it holds its value is a benefit. I’m now planning on selling it, but who knows what’s going to happen. I’d probably only lose a few grand on it over the next few years.
