Buying a new machine

can be the total opposite too .... from what you read all over
My experience with JCB with the tracked dumper was great had an issue with tracking, out the next day and parts ordered and fitted within a few days. Also had a couple if broken accelerator cables and they were done pretty much next day

The supplier of my dx10z they were told about issues from day one and would sort them all at 50hr service, well that came and went and I'm sure nothing really got sorted. With parts going to be ordered. Still had issues then had the leak which was done then started to leak again. Arranged to leave machine with them for a week to avoid any issues with coming back and forth to sort parts, to sort the leak, bonnet latch, slew lock that keeps catching, the knocking from the area under your feet and the play in the kingpost. All that was sorted was the leak

They have recently done the pins and got the bonnet lock working-ish

Is that on an e10?

My e10 has done 1300hours hard work and not missed a beat, bar 2 hoses blow.

It too gets greased everyday and serviced every 150hours.

Ive also got a dx19 which isnt a bad thing and another dx10 but as you know thats currently having a noise investigation
Yeah the dx10z/e10

Buy a name brand and a model that has been a big seller. That way you'll be assured of spares a long way into the future and third party parts suppliers get into the act for big selling models. That can make parts and accessories even more available & cheaper. You'll also get better resale, and if a model has sold in big numbers it's usually because it's a good 'un.

The sub 2 ton market is a very competitive one and the world is your oyster with choice. All the manufacturers make decent machines in this class, yes everyone has their favourites but honestly I don't think there's a bad machine out there. Availability, finance cost and general all round package is what will sway you here. The other advantage you have is this is a good time of year to buy as they will be keen to sell 2019 stock and discounts are to be had.
Be careful when comparing models as most manufactures make 3 "levels" of 1.5t machine. The "19" versions are far better than the "15" and have better pumps, expanding tracks etc but obviously cost that bit more.
Personally if I was in the market, the new CAT minis look good, especially with the option of aircon but I bet they aren't cheap. Wacker Neuson make some really nice spec small machines and I would also look at the Volvo. Obviously the JCB too as they are very local to me and I already have a relationship with the dealer.
But I have to say if Bobcat are doing the long warranty and 0% finance, it would be very hard to not buy one. I've spent some time on an E19 and thought it was a nice machine, good access for servicing and whilst the paint falls off them, it wouldn't stop me getting one. I'd just touch it up every year.
Let us know what prices you get back though, always good to hear what deals are about.
Good luck, I always enjoy shopping for new machines!

When I was looking, everyone said the E10 was the best micro out there. Theres at least half a dozen of us on here with them, and I can't think of anyone who has a different micro? Maybe Rory has a Tak?

I wasn't that impressed initially with the E10, but came to realise that every micro is a bit agricultural, slow and lacking in reach. But by God does it dig! I love it now, it's so handy. Mine's at 200 hours, and a year into a five year warranty. They hold their resale like mad.

Really good advice here re the different levels of 1.5 class machine. As regards warranty, most manufacturers can extend it to five years via a third party scheme (Metal Masters does mine) when new for very little cost.

How was the E19 to grade with, and what was the power like? Keep thinking of getting one with a cab and twin aux.

I'm comparing it to my 2001 8015 which lets face it, machines have come on a long way since then but honestly I quite liked the E19 in the end. This was a canopy one (although we had removed it to track it through a hospital - long story) Had the keypad start which I thought was a bit more fiddly then just using a coded key but wasn't so bad once you got used to it. I also didnt like the Whites quick hitch, they seem to be made with 4000hrs worth of play in them 😩.
The E19 had decent reach, drove well, nice and quick and seemed plenty of power. The service access was impressive and a really well thought out design. At the time I remember thinking - you know what I'd actually buy one of these.

No, no micro's for me, if we brought one it'd most likely be the likes of the old school 800kg machines as over 1t and they become difficult to throw around with 8t machines. As said before If I brought a new one it'd be the E10.... best machine on the market still!

We regularly jump between Takeuchi TB108's, Yanmar 08's and the Takeuchi TB210..... The best of those three is the yanmar.... the little takeuchi 108 is too light footed and the throttle is in the wrong position for my knee.... the TB210 is too f****ng big and clumbsy. Have had one past week and it's done the job but it's nothing special... it's basically the friend you have who thinks she's beautiful, but is very short and squat with no flexibility. 😂

To be honest the 200 series of takeuchi doesn't do it for me at all...

But as said, most firms have 2 or 3 variants....
Bobcat's E17 is basic spec, it has gear pumps which are cheaper but it's less powerful overall
Bobcat's E19 is next up, Variable pumps etc etc... much better.
The E20 has a cab I believe.

Oh and the E19 is one of the best Midi's on the market atm, alongside the JCB 1.9t

I’m a volvo owner and on my fourth an Ecr25d.had a couple of ec15bxtv and an ec18c prior to that. Can’t fault any of them but every one has the offset ram slowly retract which can be a pain but does it very very slowly and not really noticeable unless doing long footings or trenches.volvo tried to sort first one without luck and I’ve put up with it over 17 years.volvo warranty is 3 years but only for engine and pumps.had rubber concertina bit under left servo lever split at under 2 years and 430 hours and dealer did not want to know which I think is pretty poor, but could sell me a new part at massive silly price.found volvo service from duxford outstanding and better than local dealer by a mile.a builder I work for has a Takeuchi 210 with servos and it’s a great little digger.cant fault it apart from ridiculous throttle position which is very very easy to close with yourvknee as roly mentioned above

If you get one with the long arm they lack some pushing power if youve got abit too much muck/stone too close to you and you want to knock it back abit.

I find them decent to grade with.

I know I’m talking slightly bigger, but running. JCB 55 and 100, the 55 had one drive motor and both top rollers replaced before 2000 hours, got those bits quite quickly, the 100 has been pretty good apart from two door locks falling to bits. However just ordered a full set of pins and bushes for the stick and bucket, plus another door lock, took two weeks for half of the order to come, told another two weeks for the rest, and these are wearing parts. Ordered some Cat bits the same afternoon, arrived 10.00am the next day. Also, don’t disregard Wacker, they make a very strong machine.

Hope this helps.
Just bought a long arm canopy E19.
Grades well, loads of reach, very powerful. Much more than a 1.5t machine. Reach and depth not much less than a 2.5. Only thing to be aware of is fill the 39inch ditcher and at full reach it will always lift a track and also front to back if on a slope without blade down. And it won’t fit in a shopping container....
I also got the comfort pack which gives you a better seat and aux/slew on the sticks. I wanted to run a tilt bucket without foot pedals... the response on the slew button is a little delayed but quite precise so not sure I made the right decision there!
Looks big against a E17 in their yard.
With keypad, 3 year warranty and three buckets I paid £17.5k £1750 deposit and £262 per month on bobcat 0% finance over 5 years.
Standard E19 canopy was £16.9k
Have an E10 too, not a single prob in 800 hours. Absolutely amazing bit of kit. Love it. Paint is ok but not great.

Yeh , welcome🙂, nice to hear, @doobin has bobcat as well and he’s says there very good, well actually to the point where i nearly got one a couple of months ago just off his review of them, didn’t even go and see it. Am I right in saying that they are a Doosan in Bobcat colours or vice-versa?

I think it would be difficult for anyone to rival the parts department for cat there overnight stock is unbelievable had some really oddball parts for 30 year old machines on site next day from the big warehouse in Germany
Including cosmetic components that you wouldn't even expect to still be available
