Devils advocate here... like it or not you never see a poor farmer, and it's a closed shop.

Perhaps this might allow some new entrants?
I hate IHT, it’s immoral to tax something that’s already been paid for with taxed earnings as far as I’m concerned. I don’t agree with it however it is levelled, and the fact that there are loopholes and ways of avoiding it through planning makes it all even nastier imo. People don’t often plan to die, but timings can make a huge difference as to whether tax is due or not ffs!
At the same time I’m not sure that the 20% tax burden is enough to kill off a successful farming enterprise - it’s certainly a big kick in the teeth and I don’t agree with it in any way but I’m sure the majority of farms will survive it without being forced to sell off any land, no matter how poor they all proclaim to be (from the seats of their brand new £200k plus tractors)…

They would take everything off you if they had their way

From a few posts I seen looks like double cab pick ups being vilified again and any new petrol of diesel motors having the ved doubling.
It's a fair hike but suppose it's still way less than the equivalent EV price point.
Still seem to be pushing hard on the useless ev agenda

Ok....

Sure feels like now that anyone going out to work and had actually earn't anything more than minimum wage is now been screwed over.
Looks like anything apart from sat at home working on laptop having a vegan diet and driving electric cars is now frowned upon.
Pickup tax yes...I know we all see the gym owners etc who are using it as a tax perk whilst benefiting from a down site useful vehicle..but is this any different from anyone owning a 90k Porsche paying even less BIK? How about the other 80% of pickup owners who use them to get to site every day etc etc and god forbid they dare to use them on the weekend to run the shops ? It's fairly obvious what's going on...I can't now run a 40k 5 seat pickup but can run a 90k taycan for half !! The BIK of a pickup...that's at current rates.

In other words who does this hit?

It's just a continual swipe at nasty "rich" people who live outside the city and actually put graft in...

And farmers...we all know what's going on...FFS make it even more sh*t for the next generation to carry on they'll likely stuff it and sell up to usual crowd.

The fact that 2 of our crew on here have sold up this week say anything ? That's prob the biggest indicator imo.

By the time 2029 comes there probably won't be any pickups for sale in the UK, only due to the huge sale of pickups do we still have ford, izuzu, Toyota and VW (fair enough sangyong is selling some) but they will more than likely stop not long after the cut off for new vehicle orders next year, but fear not at least that awful full electric maxxus pickup will also disappear.

So is there an iveco or grafter that has a lot of the creature comforts of the higher spec double cabs or are we just expected to slum it while people move change from pickups to ev supercars

The 4x4 iveco would be nice 🙂

The whole pick up situation is a farce. Target the £50k plus pick ups if you think there are being abused.
As for the inheritance tax mess…..not be surprised if we end up with less and less locally produced food!!

It’s terrible!!

My only thoughts of planning a way around it is, set up LTD company, gift farm into company , survive 7 yrs. Then the farm is passable between generations without further IHT.
It *shouldnt* raise a claim to any additional taxes along the way. Cant really see any other way around it tbh
Liable for CGT ?
