my gut feeling on this by the way is i very much doubt you can charge the customer. Its a major engine failure which "may" have just happened as one of them things. Theres very little they can do to make a engine throw a rod but no oil is one, hard to prove. Going on its side is likely another but i rekon you could see if it had very quickly.

Other than that its just a engine failure which can happen.

Just thinking I don’t think I’ve ever had to top up a modern small size plant engine with oil in between 1000hr services.. maybe the level dropped from the top of the dipstick to the bottom by time it’s ready for service!

On a short term hire I can’t say as I’d be checking the oil when machine arrived, you would expect the hire company to check over before sending out.

One thing I do is walk around taking photos of it, ideally with the plant wagon still in the background! same again when off hired and photos of a full fuel tank!

Too slow mate!

Slow but easy.

Or build a power pack with bigger engine & pump.

Or take a bigger machine & two long hoses.

Driving it out has got to be better than trying to pull it out.
