I’ll crack on and do the injector swap over, process of elimination..makes sense . I’ll do a bit of research on the valve clearances and should be ok with that. I’ll let you know how I get on 👌cheers
If you’ve got the ability to crank the engine by hand, then a quick test would be to decompress No2&3 and then crank the engine over by hand, see if you can feel compression on No1. That might point you in the right direction and no need to do the injector swap?

I was gonna say see if decompressors change owt first.

It’s what I do!
Or as we know the decompressor was used to stop these engines, it wasn’t supposed to be used for that, but they sometimes ended up with the exhaust valve stuck a little open with soot!

So I ended up swapping the (assumed) faulty No1 injector with No 2. It wouldn’t fire up at all. Did a little bleeding etc to no avail. I assumed that this means a bad injector and a bad No 1 cylinder ! I swapped it all back to original and it still would fire up 🤦‍♂️ Messed about a bit and ended up toggling with the engine kill lever and it decided to start and tick over on the two original cylinders. I felt I had to do the swap out the No1 & No 2 again and it started. Cracked each fuel nut above the injectors and believe it or not all cylinders firing as there’s a definite change in tick over with all three.
I’ve since noticed small amounts of black oil splatter coming from the back of the No 1 cylinder along with smoke which presume is old shite burning of as it’s not been working for so long. I’ll upload a photo so it makes sense 👍it could well be previous diesel from all the bleeding

Just another quickly .. I’m not sure one of the injectors is seated properly as there maybe a bit of fuel returning up. The ports were full of old build up and was concerned that if I disturb it the debris will fall below and cause problems ! Is there a way of cleaning these ports out ? 👍👍
