Bomag ADH80 vibrator

My 2008 bomag 80 roller is playing up . The vibrator isnt coming on properly . When I press the button on the forward reverse lever it only comes on and off now and again . Sometimes it’s stuck on but more often it won’t vibrate .
I know it has a couple of relays under the arm rest bit and I process these and they were nearly 500 quid for both so if I’m going to buy them I need to be sure that’s what is wrong . Anyone else replaced these relays before ?

500 quid FFS .... WTF is so special about them ?????????

The last couple of rollers with problems with the vibrator where, one was the switch, and the other was broken wires in the harness in the center joint area.
Granted they where a bit older than yours, but worth a check.

I don’t know yet , it wasn’t me that opened it up it was my right hand man sandy and he never took a pic . I will need to get in about it on Monday . I did wonder if @mickthefitter or @CPS
Might know how to do a work around with an ordinary relay

The switch for vibes on my 120 isn't the best I'd start by looking at the switch first tbh.

I should be able to check the button operation out without to much bother . Will have a look at the wires as well .

Cheers Gaz that’s the second bomag switch issue straight away so that’ll be first thing to look at . Only thing is it has been starting and stopping at times on its own without pressing the switch so maybe I am looking for something else

Switch is first port of call followed by checking for broken/damaged wires then imho.

could be a wire busted and shorting somewhere then ?

Had one recently that had break in wiring between switch and solenoid would work occasionally when the wires touched,I would check continuity on wiring first

Broken wires would be my guess, I have a bomag 90, it did the same and i had to replace the wiring

Go to the solenoid for vibration, remove cap fit two wires long enough to reach the battery or jump pack, start the roller, of the three terminals on the solenoid, you need the two opposite each other, fit the two wires, touch the other ends on your 12v supply see what happens! Send pics of relays! I think they are a standard replaceable item.

Another vote for switch,know of several that have vibrate wired into the hazard switch on the dash as its a spare. Horrible to use on tarmac

Yes I agree . I like it on the lever so you can switch off at the exact time when changing directions rolling type 1 . I’ve had the switch on the dash before and it’s a pain in the arse
