Hi Guys

Just bought a Bobcat t2566 5.5k hrs , nice machine, a few dash light not working but all good otherwise.

The power steering hydraulics sounds like it's on full lock even when it's in normal use (just slightly turning).

Any ideas , someone said maybe pressure relief valve??

mines the same ,a noise when turning ,

No loss of power , just sounds like it's being held on full lock.
Because iv not had it long I was thinking if it was sorted then It would be better than it already is

oil dumping through the orbital to tank, when held off centre/steering/not straight ahead ?? some are very noisy

I'm new to owning hydraulic machinery tbh but trying my best to understand and pick it up quickly..
Iv tried holding the steering on full.lock and simultaneously operating boom etc..
Works fine altho feel a little rumble through the joystick.

Not sure about steering staying straight till next week I'll try.
It does if I recall make the noise. When off centre.
It may be nothing but if it's something on its way out I'd rather sort now.
Damage limitation..

Works fine altho feel a little rumble through the joystick.

Not sure about steering staying straight till next week I'll try.

almost certainly slack/wear in the mechanical elements of the steering set up .... the orbital valve which supplies oil to the steering ram only supplies sufficient oil to move the ram the required amount to turn the wheels, proportionally to the amount demanded by turning the steering wheel, beyond that point it is always dumping oil, to stop it turning the steering any further. Generally speaking older orbitals do make noise, unless in the neutral (dead ahead) position (and newer ones can do too)

No leaks on the machine anywhere..

i understand there will be wear on a machine with 5k plus hrs.

Also appreciate your informative explanation, it paints a picture of how it works for me.

Yes no noise when hands off steering wheel..

Leaking across orbital pump face(loose) I think the common word is! Is there a slight vibration through the steering wheel when in a straight line and idling?

I'll check in morning, as I say there isn't any sign of any leaks coming from the machine , driveway clean where it's been working on for last 2 weeks

had mine 10 years was making the noise when i bought it ,still going strong
