I don't mind earmuffs in the winter but find it all becomes a bit sweaty in the summer months so tend to opt for stick em in your ear ones instead and just chuck them at the end of the day
I'm on my 3rd ear bud set in 6 months but £17 stay on ear well and good sound

Aye, then we can move on to a debate about Bluetooth ear muffs 🤭
was exactly my thoughts ... even my Aldi bluetooth head phones block 90% out on the mowers (I am amazed TBH), give me summat way better to listen to than the racket they make and can receive calls too ..... bet the mowers are 10 times worse than the 360s you're complaining about

I had a new 3CX years ago that had a really noisy pump noise from under the cab. I think it was just a hose sitting at the wrong angle, the fitter moved some hoses about anyway and it stopped.

Without the Bluetooth bit, what's a decent set of ear muffs? I wear them more and more now so recommendations are appreciated
Hellberg pretty good. Had a Bluetooth set for last few years, love em makes tedious tasks much nicer.

They do standard stuff as well, their chipper spec ones are pretty good ,they make some for Stihl..😉

Thing is it's all well and good saying just chuck a pair of muffs on but personally as soon as I do that I feel detached- I work on busy footpaths alot and also very rough terrain I want to be in touch with my environment so I can hear tracks coming off or communication with public etc not sitting there oblivious.

I agree ,10 minutes of imagonery grading in a tarmac yard goves you no idea of a machones characteristics really.
How many dealers now offer a proper demonstrater machine for a couple of days?
Bobcat did for me last year :) (still didn’t buy the E27z though)
Kubota dealer wouldn’t

I don't wear ear defenders on a machine for the same reason as @Storrsy - but the noise canceling Bluetooth ones are interesting, do they say cancel the frequency of a droning type engine noise but allow you to hear someone on the ground ?

I think it varies on how much you spend.
I have cheapy shooting ones that have a microphone on the outside so you can hear everything normally until you shoot at which point it turns the microphone off. Really good for what they are but probably be either on or off with a machine rather than picking out the voices

Used to have a pair of them 20 years ago. Brilliant on site, they would actually amplify voices so it was like spyware .. you could hear conversations a lot further away than normal ! About £16 on special from screwfix back in 2003 🤣

Ive been on this Wacker ET24 (sorry Cat your not getting the credit for this) for a few weeks now. So impressed with how much grunt it's got. Tbh it's not a million miles of what my 2.8t takeuchi will do, It doesn't quite have the rear end weight @2300kg but certainly as planted as any 2.8t zero I've tried The cab is still a little noisy for my liking but aside from that lovely track pedals and plenty of floor space etc and towing it is a breeze compared to the Takeuchi

I have the iso tunes free aware ear buds, they are actually rated as proper 32db snr ear defenders. Wearable all day and ip rated.

As they are proper ear defenders I'm sure they don't use noise cancelling so there isn't that question mark for if they are just cancelling out the sound but still causing damage with the negative soundwave

They do have microphones built in that will amplify sounds. Settings are something like 4 options, completely off (no sound amplification so straight ear defenders) then 3 levels of sound amplification, which is still rated as an defender but will blend outside sounds so speech, buzzers is more audible but if the levels rise it drops the sounds out, so if you turn an engine on or use a impact/nail gun it cuts out.

To be honest I generally use them as a straight ear defender, with amplified ambient sound off, there is times I'll go up a setting or two but if you're somewhere windy, the mics blend in the wind sound which can be annoying.

Only issue is the cost, they are £180

I had the ear buds a few years ago but kept falling out. The isotunes headset is really good. The stihl headsets are great for communication.
I've currently got a £18 set off Amazon usually use 1 so I can answer calls but still talk normal

good tool though ... ex/old customer had one which we did some work on .. have operated it and seemed pretty fair, but had a clamshell on for loading lime -- no idea what it'd be like with a bucket on - much like my Manor possibly - but bigger

stuck a rear cross member onto his spreader to tow the loader with

quite a little 'roadtrain'

That must have been a sight to see with the pick up hooked up behind the loader for the commute 😁
