What are you intending to use it for out of interest?
If I had one it would be underused and spend most of its time in shed, would come out on weekend for farm work and neighbours odd jobs to get experience, and maybe loan out to BIL. And also be used for mucking out sheds which is a scandalous use for a BHL. 18K is too much currently to have sat around as a big toy .

Where are all the tidy used machines for sale? Certainly can't find much expect bog basic hire so machines. Is it that owner ops are holding on to what they already have instead of investing in new kit. New kit os definitely coming down but hardly any decent used kit around and it's all flipping expensive

End users have held kit for sure over the last 12-18 months.

I'm in a bit of a dichotomy as to what to do. I have 2x 2.8 tonners which although handy seems a bit silly really and I have the 1.8t TB216. Id like to replace the 216 really because it's so basic and doing grab work of the pedal for walling is tedious. Trouble is In about 7 years I've had it I reckon I've had to put the tracks in about 5 times. So seems a waste to gear a machine up with expanding tracks just for those occasional moments. Ideally id go for the Wacker ET24 with VDS, I'd have it fitted with a thumb but also have dual auxiliaries so that on bigger walling jobs I can remove the thumb and have a rotating grab, but do I trade in one of the 2.8tonners in and keep the 216 purely for the odd narrow access job, or sell a 2.8t and the 1.8t and just have the ET24 to cover both machines and keep one of the 2.8ts! So much to think about it hurts🤣

Could you split the difference and look at the et20??

Or something like the yannmar vio23-6

Yeah that would seem the logical route because the ET20 would still have the expanding tracks for the rare occasions I need it but the ET24 has a really nice rugged undercarriage with more ground clearance- on the ET20 the bottom of the VDS ram is a bit close to the ground really for my liking.

If it was me I'd keep the 216 for tight jobs and trade in one of the 2.8s for the 2.4.
Then use the 2.4 or the 2.8, whichever is most suitable for a particular job. They'd be fairly interchangeable, so if you'd left the 2.8 on one site you could use the 2.4 on another if needed?
(That's a lot of numbers) 😆 🤣

Yeah seems daft to have 2 of the same and getting 1 hired in when needed

Yeah that's kinda how I'm seeing it at the mo. The 216 I've had from new and is very tidy and tight- im not a big fan of it but does the job for narrow work and is presentable. Ive a feeling once the "towable with attachments" ET24 arrives though the 216 wouldn't come out of its shed much!

I suppose what I was thinking was that having 3 minis is probably more than I need- I'm hoping the duck will do quite a lot of jobs that the 2nd 3 tonner would have done so was thinking of if I sold the 216 and one of the 3 tonners and got a ET20 its less machines overall (which is a good thing for me) leaves more capital in the bank but solves the whole issue with the short comings of the 216 for the work I need it for. See Ive gone full circle again🤷

Why do you want a 2.4t when you have a 2.8t??
I wouldnt if I didnt have 2x 2.8tonners but given one of them is essentially expendable to my mind the 2.4 fills a nice gap where I want to take a digger and several attachments to a job for a day or twos work. Also sounds silly but when walling I'm in and out the cab alot. The ET24 with tracks wider than the cab makes it far easier getting in and out. Also I want the VDS- I have spinal alignment issues- so many footpath jobs I do where a vds ET 20/24 will mean I can sit level with out skewing- I find sitting on the piss the worst thing for my back. Ive tried a ET24 and the lift capacity is very impressive/ massive track motors etc so would do plenty of jobs the 2nd 3 tonner would do
