Bent grab…

Spoke with Engcon and they said the expander bolts are most likely bent as they are supposed to go before the clam shells themself? I kinda just assumed I’d bent the clams? Anyone shed any past experience on it?

Also my bucket warehouse grab edges are so worn on corners nothing meets like it used to

for the cost of 'em that is far from great ... not as if it's on a big machine either ... as for expander bolts !! ... realllly ??

The expander bolts should be easy enough to slacken and knock out once there released for checking?

How did you manage to bend it like that ??

Will knock the bolts out and have a check next week while I’ve some downtime! Don’t know if it’s best to remove the ram so they move freely and I can feel which part is bent, as to look at individually both clams looks straight, until they meet.
Was moving some timber around, think i just caught something abit off, I’m no animal of a operator! pick up all sorts with it and never bothered it before

Tat's appaling if that's bent, a grab should be almost indesctuctable for the machine it's matched to, I've been using a prodem this week which has been used and abused bolder handling for a few years. Still as good as the day it was made

my old Cranab grapple took some serious hammer handling rocks it could barely get hold of --- 3+t and more ... deffo not what it was designed for ---- and is still fine

Certainly wouldn't expect clam type to bend especially premium brand

Think from the blurb about expander bolts they need re torquing after a while once they bed in iirc

Have emailed Engcon to see what they say, just realised it’s less than 3yrs old and I bet I’ve done no more than 20hours with it

Shell is totally twisted by the looks of it. I’ve done that with forestry grabs but they are built nowhere near as strong.
