Hi

Can anyone help

I have a Benford TV1200 roller roughly 2000 machine
We lost forward and reverse.
We have had the main pump refurbed and although every outlet is strong and tested we still have no drive.
There is a (im told) a brake control block Drive or Idle when we moved the arm it tried to drive pulling down the engine. Any thoughts

Pilot pump or brake valve😊
Thanks for the reply Mick

Non Fitter speaking so be gentle

There is an aluminium block, with a handle and 2 settings drive & tow with hydraulics going in and out all with pressure and a "Valve" on the top when we nudged the handle it tried to drive and pulled down the engine.

But not everytime

Yes correct this is the tow valve, one way is for towing the other for driving, but if you have no working brake line solenoid, when you the engine labours it’s trying to drive against the brakes! There should be a solenoid block front right hand corner of the machine, send some pictures please.

Yep right on the money with starting here, I've had the solenoids fail but more often than not a wiring issue to them. Good shout (y)

Edit: on the TV800 the seat switch will latch the park brake, can't remember if this is the same for the TV1200. You have checked the seat switch?

Seat switch does different things depending on how it’s wired! Some the brake comes on, some stop the engine, some do both!

Oh that's an older one, does it rev up stupidly as soon as you go to move off? The last one that age I delt with rev'd up from idle as soon as the joystick left netural position. Cold or not! Made me cringe thinking cold engine getting full rpm from standstill. The solenoid you seek is mounted to the top of the pump shown in the photos... It has an LED does that ever light up?

Curiously it does rev up at the start, do you know the precise name of the part, and where to get one . It looks like many of the other solenoids on the machine and hopefully a current and common component?

Really appreciate your help.

unplug the coil, whip it off and give it some voltage ... see if produces a magnetic field in the bore by slipping a screw driver in .. should grab it if performing properly ... you'll at least know that's working then ... can work back looking for voltage from the plug back ... as said, the LED should light up when energised ... if it does and the coil isn't energised, suspect the plug's connections ... have had the terminals fail before now, not making contact with the coils terminals ... plugs're cheap enough to replace. .... if it doesn't light up, prise the cover off and try a meter on the actual ends of the wires ... those DIN plugs do fail /corrode/fall to bits internally

How long did you say you have had the roller? Looking at the blue and yellow cable ties it has had some charge pump issues previously!

Hi Mick

We had the pump rebuilt last year as we were advised this was the problem.

The solenoid is working when revved the red led comes on and the pipe to the tow block flexes as it gets pressure.

The seat switch seems to work as it operates lights in the electronics panel, however it makes no difference as the machine can be started with or without it being sat on. Also from memory I have moved the machine without being on it.

The chap helping me today, said that it was fed by 2 positives and no negative.

What is fed by two positives? Can you trace brake lines from the drive motors back to the valve? So where the hoses are in the drums take a photo, and where they go to!

The seat switch has 2 positives, will photograph brake lines tomorrow

Where are you bases Mick

Hi Mick

The 3rd image is a component on the left hand side of the machine we hadn't noticed before.

Hard to trace the pipes.

What would it take to either get you up to Burton on Trent for the day or possible get the machine to you?

Its the perfect tool for my cricket ground and I don't want to lose it and spring is coming?
