You could possibly use an inverter along with your vehicle 12 volt batteryI’m installing septic tanks and treatment plants at a rate of knots at the moment . I usually hire a self priming pump for wet installs or go like feck and try to get it done before the water gets above my sump hole .
Either way I was wondering does anyone make a battery pump that can lift water from a sump hole . I say dirty water but it’s usually fairly clean sometimes with a bit of silt in it . It wouldn’t matter if it was self priming as it could be just switched on when the water rises to a certain level .
I’d like something small enough that I can keep in the van permanently so not a petrol pump .
Anyone used anything like this ?

240v submersible pumps aren't a lot of draw, around 500w from memory. Deffo worth a go, the alternator would probably keep up with that draw over a longer period also. You could possibly use an inverter along with your vehicle 12 volt battery![]()
I once had a cheapo einhell on float switch run all a very .wet winter in a landrain pit to bypass a blockage I couldn't be arsed to sort...thing never missed a beat . I’ve tried 3x to buy jcb hydraulic pumps at auction always make £250 plus easy but always been busy to update bid when they’ve finished
is that your garage Fred .... must be depressing getting flooded out .. makes such a bloody mess and takes forever to dry out afterive got the large version oj the jcb hydraulic and its a monster. Can shift massive volumes quick. Run it off a diesel beaver pack as the petrol ones aren't strong enough.
Found this post when lookingWell speak of the devil. Guess what I got called out to today?
We all know what customers really mean when they say ‘yeah, I’ll shutter it’. They mean ‘I won’t shutter it and I won’t bother calling for concrete for a week’ most of the time!

If its just smallIsh amounts of water, I’ve been very impressed with the Milwaukee 12v pump stick for emptying the bottom of footings etc. it has a pretty good filter system at the bottom of the stick. Worth a look, wins for me on convenience and is also pretty effective.
Basically if the water is coming in as you dig then you need a petrol diaphragm pump. But for pumping out once or twice a day then the pump stick and possibly a cable tie for the trigger is pretty nifty. It may even have a lock switch, can’t remember.
By far the best price I could find and they had stock:
