Yes, that's the one. I've heard the dewalt one is really good but can't find much on this one.
I’ve got a couple, absolutely love them. Incredible cut depth for what they are too. If you want to do big long cuts in concrete then IMO you still want a petrol saw, although the battery ones will do it, just a bit slower maybe, but if you are chopping bricks or tiles. or doing small cuts here n there then these things are great.

I normally use a ts410 for cutting stone, block paving etc and a flex cs60 for porcelain. It'd be good to have something for those little cuts here and there and not have to keep starting up the saw. Thanks for the feedback.

Last bit of paving I did I used the battery saw, so much easier. Been using it on a bit of roofing, actually my dad has more than me and its so much easier than starting a petrol saw for a 20 second cut. The battery Makita will cut as deep as a TS410. I rarely use a 410, use 420’s more. But have to say the convenience of the battery saw is hugely appealing.

Spot welding puts a lot less heat into the cells than soldering so it's less likely to damage them (or explode!)

This is a 12 cell NiCd pack I converted to a 8 cell Li-Ion (2x4)
Not a bad upgrade as it went from 2Ah to 5Ah

Repacking a Li pack should be much easier.
Did that not make it 16.8v?
Did you fit a different battery management system?

The cells I used were 3.7V giving 14.8V.
These old tools have no smarts in them, so running them at a higher voltage wouldn't be a problem either.
The charger works with packs from 7.2 to 24V, so it'd charge fine too.
The BMS (the circuit board) needs to be selected correctly and that, in turn, will prevent the cells over/under-charging.
