I get that after going bust in 2010, but why put them away in presumably 1986 (if for example they are 1985 model) with 75 hours on the clock? That's what I'm getting at.statute of limitations

I think some of the plastic has broken away and that's why you can see yellow. Not looked at the originals on Facebook, but if there’s overspray it’s not factory paint. The 950 with no cab is shouting “hidden in a container” and somewhere along the way the cab got lost.
Cab off, bucket off and steel shipping wheels, yes. That’s how a lot were and still are shipped. I received a brand new 950 in a container in July., machine and bucket in one container, cab and wheels in another. I think a 962 might be the limit for a container without taking the axles off.Would they even fit in a container?
Can you see that on Facebook? In one of the comments on Facebook it says they were destined for another county.

The tyres look like Michelins, and they are a factory option on smaller Cat loaders. Probably headed somewhere sandy.I don't doubt the shovels originality. The tyres are a interesting one but those loader type treads are hard to get..... Quite possibly containerised/derigged with the tyres off hence there condition.
The 977 I have my doubts, like I said I can see one being hidden but six seems a fair accomplishment. Looking at the others in the background I'd say they have likely either been early restorations or similar.
I’m thinking the same thing, Bob. I can’t remember when FOPS/ROPS became compulsory here. Levertons made cabs for dozers, traxcavators and loaders in Spalding, but I also remember seeing ROPS on dozers in the seventies. Probably an option. Every 8K I’ve seen had ROPS but again I don’t know if it was a Cat or Leverton cab. The Leverton cabs were basic, and rattled so much they just about doubled the noise levels for the operator, I can’t imagine they suddenly upped their game to the standard of the cab fitted to the 8K and later 9H’s.Not sure cab was standard then a lot of large cat machine cabs was extra many were fitted with after market cabs before rollbars came in
You seem to have a handle on this, Gra. I always thought the Hydrema was a bit big for planting leeks, what have you got buried in a container under the drive?it's possible someone had a hell of a good year and spent the profit on capital plant ....... which has been lost in the accounts and written down every year 'til valueless, whilst parked up somewhere dry, as a nest egg/pension plan![]()
I don't know but it obviously requires a big generator to powerYou seem to have a handle on this, Gra. I always thought the Hydrema was a bit big for planting leeks, what have you got buried in a container under the drive?
There was this strange situation on farms in the 70’s where a roll bar became compulsory on wheeled tractors but not crawlers. There was an upsurge of crush injuries where tractors reared up, threw the driver over the back then crushed them with the bar.Rollbars were not compulsory in late seventies. Silencers were not compulsory either we only started to fit silencers if it was in the contract on job in late seventies
