They’ve come along way from the old 3C, I operated one of them many years ago and drove it on the road! Continually turning right to keep it in a straight line! And when you needed to turn left you did, and a bit like an old TK quickly turn back right to drive it straight again

Sounds good, please PM a price and the spec you'd recommend for the backhoe! I'm thinking it would be an ideal tool combined with the extendahoe for maintaining tracks etc. I should be fine with the normal grading bucket for ditching?

Any opinions welcome, I don't want to buy the wrong thing.

I have a NH110 its a late 2002 and only done 5500 hours Its a great machine, I have tidied it up a little when I got it 2 years ago The have the best reach but watch it if you have a large bucket on the back, Where did you get the rear tyre from, I use SE Tyres from Hailsham,

Jcb have there on version of waxoyl now. I think it's called boomtec iirc.

To be used on extender aswell.

With it having legs how much use would you get out of it

My thoughts exactly, you can get a decent amount of angle out of the legs, even more when you tilt the front bucket as well

But everyone is telling me to keep a bit of the rear tyre on the ground for stability!

I dunno, guess I'm just so used to a tilt hitch on a 360 machine. Seems easier than jacking the cab around, especially for stuff like track cambers where you won't always be in line with it. Got to be easier to move a rocker with your thumb as you grade rather than stop and adjust a jackleg?

The thing with a backhoe is you can’t have everything.. you’ll soon be digging with the Jack legs up in the air like you just don’t care

Yes while operating normally but if you want to cut a batter or pull of a a set level then cock it over one way or the other.

Sometimes open the 4in1 n put it down it's abit more forgiving when you doing things like that.

I get how it works, but you cant exactly adjust the jacklegs as you pull the dipper in like you can a tilt hitch. If you are working slightly off centre to the batter then you need to adjust the tilt as you pull in.

Tbh get a tilt bucket and be done with it, but I'd advise against a daft length or width. 1200mm standard profile grader with as low built height as possible on a straight boom backactor.

You'll also find you want/need the extending arm all the time however so make sure you have the tilt bucket on its own circuit.

Yes there are s**t loads of tricks on a backhoe to do the same job, and both cocking a leg or pitching the boom one side of the sideshift and using the front bucket to give you angle can be done. But if your an occasional user of a backhoe your best off going the easiest route..... Which is a tilting bucket.

You reckon standard ditcher profile then? I was thinking being a larger machine than the mini a scandinavian style might be more use?

Yes was gonna leave the extender on the pedal and have a rocker switch for tilt or grab.

Looks like a nice flat bottom to help with grading, quite a long toe. Wouldn't be impossible to ditch with either. A good compromise?

Standard ditcher all day long, a straight backactor (main boom) is a bit of a prick compared to a arched boom. For grading and loading geometry.

Good point on the straight boom. I find it grades brill so long as I use the extender at the same time- feels like it must be how driving a gradall is!!

Yeah I mentioned earlier how there is a retrofit pedal. I can see that it's retrofit, I can see the pipes that used to go to the electrical spool, I can see the solenoid for the spool cable tied up but unfortunately all I can find of the actual spool are the three mounting threads where it would have been!!

Are those buttons on the r/h joystick proportional then?? If so that would save me fitting a rocker switch. They felt like normal buttons though?

Looks great, did you repaint?

I did respray parts on the backhoe and the legs, but because New Holland Yellow fades I used some Yanmar yellow mixed with New Holland yellow and got a pretty good match. I could do with putting some tyres on the rear last owner put the metric versions of 18.4x26, I am currently searching out the best price for a new pair.

I’ve had one before, nice bucket, personally I wouldn’t spend the extra on a scandy style for what you’re after, keep it simple

Ideal! Shouldn't take long to run jumpers from them to the 4 in 1 cables to test!
