Backhoe

A few thoughts. How does anyone manage without an extending dipper on a 360?? 😍

And why would you put one as standard on a machine that’s like a ship at sea anyway? 🤣

Why do you never see any centre pivot machines in the uk? They must be so much more stable for farm work.

Does anyone turn the jackleg pads around for a bit more stability once on site?

I’m getting the hang of it. Someone has switched the buttons for the extendahoe to a foot pedal at some point in the past, they’ve also put the breaker on a little electric pedal. A weird halfway house with the modern servos but I don’t mind it. Getting the hang of pulling in the extender as I grade. She does grade nice. Will be even nicer once I’ve done the bucket pins and the slew ram bushes.

Heck of a reach on this thing. Definitely a different kind of mentality needed with it than a 360 on tracks.

I’m a bit underwhelmed with the front bucket. They all look about this size- but it doesn’t seem much bigger than the multione bucket!! I’ve already turned the cutting edge round so capacity must be about as much as it can get?

You get used to them.

Turning feet round would have no effect bar somtingthing sticking out wider than the machine that you can't see in the mirrors.

Once your ofae with a 180 you will put arm out without legs down and when your well vexed you will put arm out while leaning over seat in forward position while still moving.

You can also use weight of backhoe to help influence what your doing with front bucket.

You will soon master getting a full bucket on front. You will get material pushed so much in that it'll come up and over the bar for forks.

Lots of backhoe are pedal operated extender on that age.

I was very fortunate to learn on a backhoe...and be taught by my old man aswell as watching some of the old boys do it.

Time, patience and practice is key.

Nice machine, Doob. That’s probably about the age of the last one I operated. When you start trying to break out a few buckets of clay or loam you won’t think the bucket’s too small. Re the centre pivot machines, okay if you’re only working in wide open spaces but the feet stretch close to three feet either side when they’re down, and they have a tendency to throw muck at your side windows if you’re too swift folding them. The other downer is you’re rocking from side to side to see the bucket when trenching.

Can’t see from the pictures how you’ve set yourself, but where you can, keep a bit of weight on the wheels or the feet will sink when you aren’t on hard standing. Good move taking the forks off, your hearing won’t deteriorate as quickly when you’re loading wagons.

Thanks for the tips. The pedal is deffo a retrofit. I’d imagine the original owner couldn’t get used to buttons, I just didn’t it odd they would spec it with servos rather than sticks in the case!

The 432d was servos and foot operated extender.

You want a mega tip to help stop the wobble?

I can see the old servo pipe work that used to control the extender. They have cable tied the solenoid up but the valve block is missing. 100% a retrofit. To confirm my hunch, the breaker is on a guitar type foot pedal floating around the cab floor 🤣

Yes please!

Make sure your legs are shimmed up well, if they aren't then it exaggerates every move you do with the back actor.

Make sure the front bucket is flat down on both sides, lift rams fully retracted and curl the front bucket to level up.. takes wobble out. Also if Jack legs are worn keep the rear tyres down, will stop some wobble too.

You mean shimmed as in wear pads tight?

The bushes on the slew rams definitely need doing, there is a good couple of mill of space around the pins!

Yes, I had edited it but you beat me by replying quicker. Lol.

Legs not shimmed right makes the world of difference, wear in other parts can be easily lived with. Look at it this way, you need a stable base to start with.

What he is saying is front bucket full to floor and bucket flat. As in if your on uneven ground it's making contact all the way across it. Ie its not left side is on ground but right side isn't as it 3 inch off.

Also if its got srs/auto ride you need to make sure you've switched it off.

Trying to find a photo..
if the front bucket is off like this when you slew left you’ll tip over abit , so Jack rear right leg up to touch the front bucket down.
Also On 3cxs if you didn’t lower the front arms fully the lift rams would very slightly extend as you dug, but lock them out they’d be fine.

If you have sloppy Jack legs it will feel horrible, keeping the rear tyres on the ground will help eliminate this abit, but like Hilux said they’ll probably need shimming..
I’ve had afew whiskies so everything makes sense to me 😂

@doobin on those 110's the breaker pedal and pipework is a separate entity to the extender. Guitar wobble pedal is the factory setup from memory.

Extender should be two buttons on the lever if servo or a big pedal on the floor if it's sticks

Same as case, a pedal plugged into the wheel arch at floor level. first time I sat in one I kicked the plug & snapped it straight off! Terrible design, was brand new machine as well! Oh and nearly peeled my scalp off on the rear window in its open position when getting in through the door!

Can’t believe the prices people are asking! Two on Facebook like mine but on sticks, same age but more hours. Both are wanting 26k!!!

Nice to get a fair priced one for once.
