Ok so I’ve been winding you all up in the other threads. I already just bought this. Looks ok, good spec. 40k, power shuttle, extendahoe, servo controls, soft ride. It’s like a ship at sea driving over a field but i guess I’ll get used to it!

It’s in reasonable nick. Needs pins and bushes in the slew rams (desperately!), the bucket pins and the main boom pin. The front bucket cutting edge is worn but can be flipped.

The hitch is a Geith hydraulic one plus buckets which is nice, although I need new edges and teeth for the buckets.

Air con works half heartedly. Might regas, probably just leave as will always have the back window open when operating I guess.

The hammer lines are single acting. However, the 4-in-1 is on a proportional rocker switch. So if I did decide to fit a grab to the backactor, it would just need a divertor, some extra hoses down the boom and a switch and second rocker switch fitted to one of the joysticks.

I need to unbolt the pallet forks, they will never be used. I’m tempted to add a quick hitch- would give me a little extra forward reach which is lacking. The bucket is already on quick couplers for the 4in1 for some reason.

The other thing that stands out is a very slight weep from the bottom of the hydraulic tank- some bad rust there, will need to come off and be steamed, purged and welded up. The rest is pretty clean, a few very localised bits of rust. Odd.

So what do you reckon? Am I mad? Seemed like a lot of machine for £15000. Most of my jobs are local and only a few days, so something I can take to site myself should work well.

15k seems very reasonable...not going to loose anything on that.

I never left. I still have two wheeldiggers, a 1960's Wainroy 300, a Ford 555 and then a backhoe on the John Deere 450A I own..... But I've a eye to probably get shot of a couple bits of kit in exchange for another wheeldigger this year

That is tidy. Sadly my budget wouldn’t stretch to anything prettier. It’s just a place to park some cash that should earn a few quid without loosing any value really.

Basically I wasn’t looking for a backhoe but convinced myself (with some help from gunners) that it was a great idea in the two hours it took for me to drive to view it

To be fair it matches the bobcats in terms of paint peeling off ….

All joking aside that’s a lot of machine for the money and I’m jealous as feck would love one for the tramping around day jobs here and there

And why would you put one as standard on a machine that’s like a ship at sea anyway?

Why do you never see any centre pivot machines in the uk? They must be so much more stable for farm work.

Does anyone turn the jackleg pads around for a bit more stability once on site?

I’m getting the hang of it. Someone has switched the buttons for the extendahoe to a foot pedal at some point in the past, they’ve also put the breaker on a little electric pedal. A weird halfway house with the modern servos but I don’t mind it. Getting the hang of pulling in the extender as I grade. She does grade nice. Will be even nicer once I’ve done the bucket pins and the slew ram bushes.

Heck of a reach on this thing. Definitely a different kind of mentality needed with it than a 360 on tracks.

I’m a bit underwhelmed with the front bucket. They all look about this size- but it doesn’t seem much bigger than the multione bucket!! I’ve already turned the cutting edge round so capacity must be about as much as it can get?

Was getting just over 2 ton in front bucket of our new Holland other day as our lorry's have weigh systems so could see what each one was

I find if you tip the bucket a bit while pushing into pile after the initial run in to pile then crowd it back a bit then tip it again then crowd it back you wil walk the bucket deeper into the pile and get huge heaped bucketfuls

Very. I’m expert level with the multione and 4 in 1.

I’m aware that’s an option, it just seems that the front half of the bucket is very short.
