Back drop pipes

The velocity that they arrive at in the chamber also has to be taken into consideration ?

I would have thought that a back drop is more likely to block at the 90 bend at the bottom than a steep gradient pipe . I’ve rodded a few pipes at a hotel that gets blocked at the 90 degree pipe at the bottom of the drop from the first floor . Especially if they don’t get used much as the richard the third splats and dries out . I’ve done both but more recently steep gradients . Never been queried by warrant officer yet .
I do like the idea of shallower digging if using back drops though .

Definitely on that job as the main pipe run ran along existing house, no backdrop would have put me below existing foundation level! Ie no!

I used the larger swept 90’s in that one, plus combined system so keeps everything running clean.
We used to do work at a hotel, it was a nightmare place!!

we normally put an undocketed T on on the inside of the chamber to help with the poo fountain.

Doesnt help the average age of the private building inspectors is around 12 so they dont have a lot of real world knowledge.

I really like those long radius 90s . Building control accept them as roddable so I use them on corners when I’ve got a manhole at either end of the runs . This hotel I work on is also a nightmare ! They had fat traps outside of kitchen and food prep area but they didn’t like emptying them . They got a pluming outfit to remove them and install some very expensive bit of kit that released something into the system that “melted “ the fat . It worked really well . The fat never choked the pipes at all . It all went into the massive septic tank where it solidified again and created the biggest fat berg I’ve ever seen . That then ended up with sewage all over the front lawn off a 300 quid a night hotel for months ! We had to get a jetting outfit to blast the fat berg and break it up with the outlet blocked and then suck it all out .

I used to do loads at Thorntons factory, the fat tanks there are insane!! Does slightly put you off chocolate for afew days
Got friendly with one of the girls in the factory who used to bring me out 20kg bags of reject chocs , until H&S got stroppy over it!

i have been in a 3900l tank (onion) and dug solid fat out ,wasnt the most pleasant of days
