You should crowd it away from the auger body while your drilling with it you don't want to be trying to bend the flight especially if you have a couple of extensions on its so the auger doesn't flap around while your tracking around as they tend to do on a mini digger with one on

As above, whichever way you pick it up it shouldn’t be touching the carrier frame when actually using.

Yes I've done this while using mine in rocky ground and now have a slight bend in the shift from the motor drive still works fine.

300mm is a good size for 8x8 gate posts, I’ve got 4”,6” and 12” covers everything I’ve ever had to do with it. Mates got a shallow 450mm one that’s like a bowl cutter uses it for planting trees.

I find I never use the 6”, often use the 8” and 12” and really need a 10” too (don’t we all??)

My next one will be one of those 4” Rock ones with the planer tips.

yeah I use my 4” most for 5x3 post and rail, use the 6” for concrete slotted post but takes 2 to 3 postcretes

Because soil augers aren’t precision drill bits, so by the time you’re done it’s more like 5”-6” hole and the 5x3 are more like 4 and 3/4. Sometimes you might just clean one side with a graft but better than a massive hole
