What's the verdict on auctions?
Looks like might have time to go to one tomorrow but are they generally stuff too knackered for people to sell or some fairly decent bits?

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
generally a collective sale is usually populated with clapped crud as a rule ... stuff ppl do not want any come back on .... bankruptcy can be different, depending on the cause of the closure ... the BIG auctions are often where stuff gets unloaded quickly, no come backs / warranties, minimum effort/fuss and take what they get .... which is usually pretty strong these days
beware buyers premium charges and indemnities .... it all adds up when you get to the pay window and your bid has suddenly cost you another 20+% ...... plus the vodka & tonic on top again
.... very few bargains to be found under the hammer these days FME

Yeah that's what I was thinking, I'm tempted to go but it's a long trip for potential wasted day. trouble is with smaller stuff, hand tools, etc., they normally make new, or better than new prices when folks get bidding fever and get carried away ... usually with no real knowledge of what it is new anyway
brightwells tomorrow here and as usual the forecast is bloody torrential ... will be an online watch I think ... October prices are usually insane .. December's the one usually, for low attendance
................ but i might just tog up for a drowning and wander down there

Going to see if can be arsed in the morning, having looked through it gets expensive quite quick if I'm reading it right brightwells is 22% buyers premium then a sundries fee on top of between 2.5-10% all plus vat

Would have been brightwells but didn't bother in the end, might have a look at the live cast for a couple of bits to see out of interest, but looking back at their previous sales things aren't such a good buy by the time the fees are added. If I got the fees right for every £100 with 22% buyers fee then sundries is either £134.20 at 10% or £125.05 at 2.5% then the vat

Commission off the seller and buyer only one winner. For every £100 they get a £16 commission then charge the buyer £22 plus sundries %'s why I rarely bother to go there anymore

I have machines in my yard you can buy from me retail with a bit of good will repairs if anything happens etc etc
We have them up for 7k and they make 8.5 at euros... plus fees. Its a very weird place is auctions.

plus an initial entry fee,
whether it sells or not ..... plus storage if you want to run it through the next auction, if it don't sell .. plus another entry fee .. license to print ......... and they still take the piss out of buyers with premiums and indemnities.can understand an indemnity against private entries, in case it's nicked, but when they charge serious levels against MOD, authority or EA stuff ???
boils my piss!! sure ain't what they used to be for sure Ross .... I know where i'd rather be buying from

fleabay is often mates running the bidding up
.... probably the same at the auctions ... very often the same faces bidding down there on anything and everything ... if they ain't 'runners' I'll eat my hat ... you'd never stand a chance of corroborating that though

Was contemplating picking up a cheapish towable welfare unit or even a van version. Watched the towable ones in the bidding online earlier, prices (without the add-on fees) were similiar to ones on eBay.
Wouldn't have made it in time to be there in person this morning but the biggest issue for me was lack of information and pics they went for decent prices but one was literally a pick of the outside and very limited info
Also watched the ground mats which weren't far off of new money

have been there on a few occasions where 'twas me and maybe 3 or 4 others .... we're all stood looking at each other in the ring, laughing, as the auctioneer is giving it the spiel. taking bids from the multitude of ghostly apparitions surrounding us, 'cos we sure as **** weren't waving or nodding bids ...... was a bloody joke ... but they were getting their entry fees for wheeling 'em through ..... eventually went bust

..... those others are still on FB market place ... asked the guy about 'em the other night ... 8 x 4s ... has more than ten of 'em and a few iffy-er ones
was shocked he still had them ... he'd stand a bid for sure, reading between the lines, but TBF, they're a good price at 60 quid each anyway 500 notes'd probably buy the lot .... I don't have any use for them and a bit of a flog, but if you've a need they're going to be cheap

I went to an auction localish joiner topped himself. On site auction to clear his workshop. Thought might be some bargains. Again stuff was fetching stupid money. Like property auctions I don't ever look at results and think that was a steal.

..... cast of thousands/every man and his dog ... all after summat cheap and getting carried away/along with the quick fire bidding.went to a local farm/collective sale on me 60th birthday, a mile away ..... was mental what stuff was making
cheapest/best buy there was a genny, that was gonna be mine,
'til i realised me neighbour was after it too .. we had a quick conversation and i bowed out for him ... at 500 quid .. total bargain .... I was tipping in his fields and he needed it more than me, as a standby for his pheasant incubators Footer block 1
