I'm changing my mind on it's usefulness. Last year has seen some big leaps forward. I'm using Claude and its scary how precise and good it is compared to the basic chatbot spam we see on here.

I just gave it three ingredients for a knapsack mix and asked it to work out the mix for 15 litres. Then got it to knock me up a label for my label printer. Done in minutes, and much of that was me finding a USB cable!

I’ve bought a years subscription for £180 Inc vat. Tax deductible and will genuinely earn that back in no time.

Of course, this is the ‘good’ side of AI, when access gives quantifiable benefits and is affordable…. And not trying to kill us all. Mixed feelings.

Yeh ive found it useful recently. Funnily enough I prefer grok for text based queries but chat gpt for altering images. Claude is supposed to be the best ive never used it though.

yeah I use it and its good, saw some glasses advertised that claimed to translate in real time and offer info on things etc, which is probably clunky and shite but its not hard to see where its going, i know a couple of proof readers that have lost their jobs, my daughter is in Marseille on an internship, part of it was translating english to french, but she tells me shes basically casting an eye over what AI has already done now, it will no doubt have a massive effect both good and bad.

I dare say it's one of those things that will get more and more integrated into daily life as time goes on. Personally haven't managed to find a use for it yet, but I'm usually 10 years behind the curve with tech stuff anyway!

This is where its heading.... perhaps this should be in the 'staff' thread.

It's going to radically change the world imo. I used chat gpt the other day to price a job, I listed off what was planning to build, basic measurements and specs, it's was pretty bang on when I went back and checked.

I loathe the pricing aspect of my job.

Me too, chat gpt was able to instantly work out quantities, volumes weights etc. Its was also able to break down the cost into different elements and present it in a very professional way. It gave me a word document I can convert to pdf (after editing)... it had tables, nice fonts, headings etc. Took me literally 2 mins. I would expect you could put detailed drawings in, architectural, or engineering, it would be able to give you pretty bang on quantities, and a good estimate of costs.

architectes in bother soon, secretaries, financial advisors, accounting.....list goes on
i mean it woukd be useful to have an AI assistant that you could speak to,literally ask it to email supliers for prices and availability of cetain items etc and like ypu say draw up prices, only the trades getting their hands dirty are safe (for now)

I think even the trades are on borrowed time looking at the humanoid robots...
