OK. After a note from the Druid I finally registered on here after being a reader for some time. Been a bit quieter on the machinery front over Christmas New Year. Not as much machinery work happens when it's around 40°C ! But being near the beach I do a bit of kite foiling as per pics below. Water temp is currently 25°C so it's pretty lovely in sunny Australia I also sell kite/surf/SUP foil gear so it's all business. Just happens to be fun too!View attachment 4398View attachment 4399

However back to the subject of this thread, get a Haulotte Multijob if you can find one. I challenge any other one machine to be able to do the variety of work and have the amount of power in the loader and excavator that the Multijob has. Below is a recent pic where I had to move some rocks for the local museum, a voluntary job. Made short work of what they thought may be a major production with the rocks close to 1 tonne each. Helps having the grab. Have had no problems apart from one electronic component failure due to corrosion. Living in a humid salty climate and having it outside in a monsoon a couple of years ago probably contributed. Lives in my big enclosed shed now when it's not on a job.

I found one of those once over here at some sort of telehandler dealer, I of course made sure to get pictures but it was a weekend and there was nobody around to ask about it. It's too bad they don't make them anymore.

and you are going to LOVE this one ...... aside from the obvious tech ... and I mean T E C H .... 's got a tilty on both ends

couldn't help but grin... every time you went to work with this ..... in the cab or sat in yer deck chair, soaking up the rays ... where's the awesome emoji @Regy53 ???

The first few photos is a North American version of your 2CX I doubt there is any difference but I'm guessing this one is a late '90's early 2000's era machine. I don't know about the old JCB you guys know more about them than I do they are very rare here so I'm guessing somebody imported it. And the Caterpillar with sideshift is very unusual here as I'm pretty sure they never offered that variant here so it could be imported as well.

I have one that's due a full restoration....... and will get it eventually. It was my grandfather's so has sentimental value. That one there is mint though

Belive the Cat 428 was a European one, perhaps made Leicester UK, 210S was early 2CX - they came out about 1991 in answer to Thwaites Alldig, & originally had 3 cyl engine (& oil cooler that failed & mixed coolant to hyd oil - wonder if this needed in cool climate? or removeable as in early Peugeot Expert vans - as not needed in uk climate - so removed by many garages)

I've strongly considered the 2CX but JCB doesn't have the greatest reputation here and they aren't real popular for anybody so I don't know what parts would be like to get.

The Thwaites Alldig had its faults! They regularly broke the rear (dumper) axle, 3rd gear was so high that it only really worked if traveling downhill. Another guy who ran one bent several rear boom ram rods (his operators may have been using the bucket as a hammer) The Alldig was only built for about 4 years, but grew out of the much more successful 'Tusker Digger Dumper'. This was a 30 cwt dumper that had a removable gravity skip - replaceable with a drive in front mounted backhoe . This latter machine was made from about 1968 up to 1988 when the Alldig took over.

Bert, Case like to say that JCB stands for 'junk comes from Britain' - but think the USA market stuff is made in Atlanta, GA. I guess if there is no local dealer parts may be difficult to source in a hurry. 2CX was made from about 1991 till 2015 (when the '3CX Comact' took over, this is really a 2CX with a hystat transmission)
I gather these hystats can only run to about 17 mph from a static start. Thus for higher speeds they need some kind of 'on the move' shifting arrangement. Unfortunately haven't got any photos of myself foiling which is a pity coz I look pretty damn good! The pic is some frenchman foiling in cold European waters.

Would something like an avant be a good option in place of a smaller backhoe loader? They have some interesting looking attachments like remote controlled backhoe, stump grinders and hedge/ lawn cutters.
I've seen nearly new ones with 1.5 ton lift (750 model) up for about £40,000 Inc vat. If it would earn more than a 2.5 ton digger I don't know.
