They should at least have used a new digger. That thing looks old, big costs if it breaks down up there.

Been doing it for years ... remember seeing the "garden sheds" been choppered in langdale years ago. Got lot of respect for those old path builders years ago doing it by hand

Deffo, paths will be getting a hammering this summer, seen anything about banning motorhomes off the narrow popular routes? Interesting if it happens make life a lot better!

They've not done half a job of taking that apart!

I wonder if it would've been easier to send a 3t with the boom and counterweight off

Four weeks just to transport the digger there are back - insane. If people can walk up there you should be able to track a digger up there, even if you have to remove a few styles on the way.

Yeah I'm not familiar with the route from that side but I'd doubt it's possible, certainly without having to dig your way in.

I was working on the assumption that they say they are working on a footpath, not a climbing wall.

It probably has to be a slightly scabby digger to be left up there to reduce the risk of it vanishing without a trace one dark night........... which would be hard to explain

I'm more familiar with the other Seathwaite but there aren't many places above the wall that the farmers don't get to with a tractor if they need to.

In dream world I'd love to sell up here and move into the National Park with a Menzi , just can't see me seeing eye to eye with the management

I don't know exactly where/how high up they are working but it's not easy access if it's high enough up

As i say i don't know where on the path they are working. Another thing you have to consider about those whose money it isn't is that they have never done much graft and are like kids in a sweetshop. Quite literally pi** themselves at the thought of getting a helicopter in.
