Good for knocking off tree shoots and leaving the grass or small scale cut and collect but best thing is to get a rotorvator for it.

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
the original allen scythes were pretty good at anything up to about 2-2.5", sapling-wise .. for rough scrub they were pretty good - for their day

Yeah you can get all sorts of attachments for it. I didn't realise the handles turned 180, till my mate said last night. For small scale bramble bashing it would work better than a strimmer. I won't be using it much, I got it foc.

When we were in Montenegro having breakfast 1 morning, a chap turned up with 1 and started topping the 2 acre field. Cheap option, everybody wants modern stuff now

It’s what it is! If you have a field full of corn or wheat you have a great tool, I did try using one years ago to knock down some stinging nettles

not 100% sure but i think a guy i know used 21 inch trials bike tyres quite narrow i think motox tyres could be used or even speedway bike front tyres. it took some hanging on to on steep banks etc i tried it once and that was enough i think only one wheel drives all the time there was a lock pin on the other hub to make it drive both maybe ok on flatish ground but hard work if bumpy or sloping land.think most were Villiers, weren't they Mick ? Something I'd like to have sat TBH, if I found a cheap, one in need of a new home .. got a few places one'd be handy for

yeh they are a handful ..... couple of decades since I last used my mate's one, but they sure as hell cut 99% of anything in front of 'em .. thought the wheels were bigger than 21", but if that's the case, you'd have a serious selection of sandcrossers to choose from
