Airbags

Hello hello

Has anyone added airbags to their truck?

Looking into doing this on my Isuzu Grafter as it squats a fair bit when loaded. Would like to have it sit more level and be a bit more composed...

The other option is an extra spring but I think this would make the ride even harsher when unladen!

I can't find any specific kits out there for my truck, looks like I could buy a generic one and have some brackets made up to suit.

Any suggestions welcome cheers

do they not do a 'helper spring' set up/kit for it --- only comes into play when laden and doesn't affect the ride when unladen

I put some on my sprinter tipper. Only a basic set up.

Did the job well and didn't make an issues to the comfort of the ride.

I'd do airbags again if I needed.

The iveco I've got was ordered with the factory helper springs. Based on my old ones it definitely helps when you've a load on.

Don't know much about em but when I looked before it seemed to be sets along these lines, 'extra heavy duty', can't find anything described as helper springs

I've just seen this airbag kit which looks like it would do the job, seller is not far away either which is a bonus

Cheers do you know who made the airbags? Did you keep them at a set pressure or adjust to suit?

I'm thinking I could keep an 18v tyre inflator in the underbody boxes rather than having an onboard compressor set up which looks handy but £££

I'm guessing as you've the long wheelbase you've the extra leverage.
Mine seems to be fine but I do sometimes wish we had the utility version

Mine is SWB too, the tool lockers are awesome but it means the bed is sat too far back - there's more bed behind the axle than in front. Takes a bit of thought to load it in such a way it doesn't want to wheelie down the road.

Probably makes the squat look worse too as a 1 inch drop at the arches must be 3 inches at the tow bar.

They were Dunlop airbags, can't remember where or who I bought the kit off.

I just set them and left them, didn't bother altering them as it drove nicely empty or with 2t of stone on.

They are well worth having, I'll send you the ones I've got

Sounds ideal then, especially as the bags look to be cheaper than a set of springs.

Only thing to watch when adding airbags is that it doesn’t crack the chassis by loading the weight where it isn’t designed as such.
They replace the bump stops or at least did on my old ranger. Seems to be more of a thing for pickups and normal vans for camper conversions but these guys seem to cover the n35

cheap enough to hardwire in to the truck with a non return valve in the supply line and a solenoid valve to maintain/control/decrease the air pressure ...... and have an onboard tyre inflator to boot with 2.2cfm output

Not sure on the company I linked but mad and VB do an automatic system comes with compressor and settable target height so adds and purges as needed.
I just had the standard bags on my ranger, was just the pair of bags and a set of air lines that you terminate at a pair of Schrader valves, so you had to manually release air and hook a pump up to increase
