Cheers all, yes I had found ways to improve the view, its just never as easy as a dedicated forklift or telehandler. My one fork is a bit bent too, which then adds to the fun.

The forks, have you tried lifting the arms a bit, fully tipping the bucket, then open the 4 in 1 to support the forks? You`ll get a bit more visibility under the bucket, granted the bonnet will still hinder your sight line on some thing narrow.

A lot of other makes have a diff lock, I`ve never seen one on a 3cx, you have to get the feel for it and use the independent brakes.
Surprising what you can get out off, with a combination of drive and back end and/or front end.
I find the split brakes hard to work, whilst also trying to shuttle backwards/forwards and trying to use the front and rear buckets to lift and shift. I play the drums so you'd think I'd find such limb multi tasking ok but apparently not lol.

I dont know if they came with a locking diff as an extra, but mine doesn't have one and so you just end up stuck spinning one wheel.
You won't see a diff lock because it's fitted with an LSD.

A quick and dirty test is to put the hand brake on, jack the back wheels off the ground and try to turn one wheel by hand.
If there is any drag in the LSD, you won't be able to turn either wheel.
If the 'other' wheel turns in reverse, the diff is 'open'.

Again, it's a quick & dirty test and doesn't take into account that the friction plates tighten up as the load increases.

Thanks for the link, but I've already taken the plunge.

I was on the case last week as I need to get one sorted, the New Holland sold, every JCB I enquired about had just sold... so I got in the truck and drove to Barnes Plant on Monday to see 2-3 he had in stock - two of which were still there but sold - however I had predominantly gone to see the Project 12.... which I bought.

It was over budget, but is pretty clean for a 22yr old machine - cab is almost spotless. Two owners from new. It's still to be delivered, but I think I bought right.

Dealt with Johnathan, seems a nice fella - didn't get much out of him tho! Trouble is there seems to be big demand at the moment, so he didn't need to sell it to me. I've been watching eBay for a while and as soon as I saw a new listing for the right bit of kit, they told me it was sold - mine was the 3rd JB had sold in matter of days. Everyone must be spending COVID loans!

Can anyone recommend an insurer for a single bit of plant....

I'm only two miles from a Tesco with a cash machine out front!
for the potential return i'd 'take a chance' on the ins. front :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: .... get stopped on the way back and the insurance is gonna be the least of your worries ...... explaining why you have an ATM in the front bucket'd be more of interest to Mr Plod :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

How do you mean Public Liability? I'm not worried about the pikey running anyone over on the way to... or from Tesco to extract the cash machine....

I'm just worried about them messing up the JCB... or burning it after....

My personal advice, don't bother.

You will pay them more in 5 years than they will pay out.

Plant/ tool theft cover as an add on to my pub liability. Think it's only for 5k continually or occasional hired machine up to 20k.
Probably not new for old

Literally it added not much on to my policy and just means when I hire kit I've not got to take out a policy.

Just be aware that if you have plant/tool insurance to a specified value (eg £10k cover) and you have a £10k loss, they will find you underinsured if you also own extra kit. If all your kit totals £20k you are underinsured by 50% and the insurers will subsequently only pay out 50% of the claim value (in this example you’d end up with £5 grand for your £10k loss, even though you hold £10k of cover).
