Accounting Software?

What accounting software do you’s find the best & easiest to use?

Have looked at,

Quickbooks
Xero
Freeagent

I think it is a case of just picking one and perseverance with it until you get the hang off it, but which one?

None of them seem that easy & straight forward to use.....

I used quickbooks at the start of my business. I thoguht it was easy but was was easiest was giving paperwork to my accountant and letting them sort it out

All i do is raise invoices and pay them

We have just moved to Zero and the accounts dept say it's great and very good value. We were on Access.

Am the same with just sending invoices & letting accountant do the rest,as they charge enough anyway! it’s just this carry on with making vat digital that has put spanner in the works,thought it might save time etc having all accounts in one place & letting it do a lot of the work...

Just moved to zero, taking some time to get it all setup how i want it, and still using my old system for now..... but it should be good

I use Zero and find it relatively straight forward, but got my accountant to set it up initially and show me the basics.

I use quickfile does everything I need, costs £45 plus vat for the year.

Got it free with RBS.

If your accountant can't handle MTD, it's time to find a new accountant

MTD is a clusterfuck, forced upon us by the government. Submitting the data in real time to the government's API is technically a piece of piss, as evidenced by the plethora of minnow software developers you've never heard of offering us 'bridging software' for a very reasonable subscription of between £50-£500 a year.... They are all taking the piss, and hopefully a free version will arrive soon. HMRC should have provided one, it's simple.

I do my own vat returns hence needing this software!!

I use freeagent i have it linked to the bank account once a payment goes through the bank it asks what it was for pick from the drop down menu
i do quots in it to and it generates invoices. vat is done all the time so you can check at any time what vat you are due, reminds you on a Monday money over due and Who to chase for payment best £5.00 a week i spend should have got it years ago. only problem is it dose not cope well with contra payments and i dont think it would cope with remeasure and lams but most of my work is ether fixed price or hourly/daily day work

I just give my accountant a box of papers once a month with all sorts of invoices sent and assortment of notes etc- not the best but it works,
I'm in need of a simple to use program for creating invoices and purchase notes tho if anyone knows of a simple to use one.

if that is all you want to do the easiest is just to set up a template in what ever spread sheet you use i use excel as i have windows 365 but i know you can get free ones on what ever lap top you are using.
having said that if you are not doing pay roll one of the programs talked about above are not difficult to use and you will save money on your account bill and better that that you know all the time what money you are owed what vat you are due to or from the vat man.

I’m giving freeagent a go, mucked about with other software but this seems the easiest most straight forward accounting software so far... time will tell

That's annoying !! .... would've been well PO-ed if someone'd cleared my invoice/statement templates .. took ages to get 'em looking 'just right'

five!!
I had five cats in work and they all liked lying on the keyboards ... so got into the religious habit of NEVER leaving a screen up .. still don't ... Squeak has been known to stretch out on this old girl's keyboard on occasion
one of my work cats managed to lock the 'puter up once, walking on the key board and had to get me tech guy to come and slip in a 'back door' to get me back in
