Not sure if it was actually recently or just recycled posts, but seemed there were quite a few pulled recently for no movement orders or travelling during “embargo” periods.
Good. Ive a pet hate of them.
Seems obsessed in sitting in the middle lane and overtaking all other wagons at 60mph usually with a previa with 3 million lights on behind....been driven by Walter mitty

You say that, but then then in a few years the 2.7t digger class would be replaced by 4.7t or whatever, and people will still be going on about whether they should chance loading it with the tilty on or make another trip for buckets.

It wouldn't be overly complex to fit a vehicle with scales on the axles, then there's no excuse. I'd take that as a trade off for being allowed to run 12t no o license.

We have had muck away lorries in this week.
Somewhere around 1000t of material out of site. All lorries fitted with weight scales. I haven't seen a single one turn them on.
You are right that we will see the standard of machine grow and the same problems happen again.
I'm sure most on here can remember when the 1.5t machine was most common as most the pickups could only tow 2.7t.
But then backhoes where more common.
It's all part and parcel of everything getting bigger. and everyone wants all the heavy accessories in the vehicles. You also can't tell me that the size difference between a mark 7 and mark 8 transit is solely down to emissions and safety technology. There is plenty of fat that could be trimmed off vans if they really wanted to.

You’re right Doobin, but as you say there could be something put in place such as scales with an audible alarm like a seatbelt with big instant penalties for tampering, bit like a tacho.

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
not beyond the realms of possibility with most modern trucks to immobilise them if overweight .. brakes locked on/unable to select gears/non starter if overloaded/unable to turn off load weighing/constantly monitored when stationary .
all sorts possible and ppl'd soon get pee-ed off with having to rectify an overloading situation to be able to move off

would also negate any need to 'police' overloading on commercials, whether trucks or vans ;):giggle: and if fitted with towing equipment a load sensing system for nose weight could also be included :giggle::LOL:
