don't think there any many 657s in UK now ,but in 60s and 70s there was a lot of 657Bs tramped one from Snetterton to Chesterfield went though Worksop
In the end Ben took rear engine out of all his 657s because electrics to rear engine went wrong like when you changed gear rear gears didn't work

Phelan’s newer ones had the same issues under two years old. Don’t think they like the damp over here.

Never had any problems with Terex rear engine was all air from air starter to air gear shift

Roundhay brought five TS24’s to re-instate a borrow pit near Thrapston. No problems with the controls but there was always one parked up having either the front V12, the rear V8 or one of the transmissions swapped out. The coal board had had the best out of them.

where I come from never seen these machines maximum 3 4 axle trucks and excavators maximum 20 tons, in Italy I think they are commonly called "RUSPE" or bulldozer , thanks for your intervention.

I had a few months with them on several sections of the A14 over thirty years ago. Never actually met the brothers, I was on with John Haines, who they’ll have some stories about. What are the brothers up to now?

Did'nt Neil Becher run Cat motor scrapers, I read a few years ago when they were doing a large muckshifting job before Bluwater was built then i think they went overseas possibly to Africa on a big job. I will go through some of my photos and post some pictures that have.

Sorry mate, didn’t take any pictures - no phones in those days. In fact John had the first mobile I ever saw. Motorola, and when he clipped it into his Land Rover it sat down on its springs. Am I right in thinking you’re into rigid dumpers in a big way?
