Absolutely .... had considered outing mine, butthey're making more than it owes me so ('87 black cab, non turbo perky, sitemaster, extradig)....
might just spend a few quid on the odd pin, some seal kits to sort the creeps and leave him sit for the odd use he gets ... is only going up in value of late :giggle:;)(y):cool:

black cabs were virtually frame-less Dylan ... the grey cabs were fabricated frames with the glass set in rubbers .. sandwiched sections made the frames and they rotted before they left the factory, with very limited paint cover on the laminated sections ... a good one is almost unobtainable .. worst bit on a black cab is the rear door frame

think they had a pretty good rep. in their day ... were a chunky tool .... seen a few in Brightwells over the years and they're 'all there' :)

I'm only buying it for investment purposes. Think after a good wash and sort a few issues out it would probably make a profit in a year or two. Makes me look at my moxy in a different light now as its in pretty good order for the age

That was a tidy machine 8500-9k all day long once it has been cleaned greased and seviced a nice machine. Shame it has not got the big hubs on the rear wheels. Not sure if if the turbo version is that much better unless you are roading it or doing just loader work all of the time otherwise i would say it's not worth having the turbo.

Can much work be found for these as digger with driver? I was following a cat one today and it's the first time I've seen one for a while. It was going well on the road and it must make for a cheaper job not needing two blokes, a dumper and haulage?

I see a few locally on council road jobs, doesn’t look to be the hardest work. There’s also some rail embankment work going on nearby that has a cat version on site.

I know two brothers still earning their living with theirs locally ... 99% council work though and rarely break sweat

Quite a few round here mainly on road work and footpaths etc. A local firm bought 4 this year think they're over 60k ea. Hires them out to county and city council been driving past one on hire this week. I used one last year for a day to clear a site was more cost effective for a 1 day job

Deffo a effective tool in the right hands and I think finally rates can match accordingly! I only know one person back in Nottingham with one who isn’t on council work, he charges full whack and only takes the jobs he wants, I keep getting calls even though I gave up that area 5 years ago , I pass everything onto him.

Biggest reason you don't see as many is nobody wants to drive them anymore. Its an easier day sitting in a 360 on a site than being general dogs body for anyone and everyone. Or in my case 3cx went because i couldn't afford parts costs.
