3cx project 7

Now then, I'm lookin to get a shovel for moving/loading/playing in the yard. With being a small outfit I don't really like having anything about me that won't at least earn a little bit of its value back.
I've a regular hire that tbh would be best done with a backhoe (currently use the 8026 but it's at its limit), common sense would dictate buying a backhoe loader to do both things.
Biggest trouble at the minute is lack of funds, don't really want to go above £8k.
My first choice for this money would be a mf 50hx, always loved them. But fact is most of my stuff is now jcb, and parts are easy to get and reasonably priced. At my budget tho I'm not going to get anything later than a project 7, which I've not a lot to do with.
I know they're well thought of generally but my basic question is how are they on the road? What sort of speed will they do?
I've driven plenty of project 8's and they never impressed me with they're road performance so if the project 7 is the same I may end up trying to find a Massey.

As usual all experiences and ideas welcome, expect telling me I'm a tight arse and need to spend more

Project 8 was the 1st to get the plastic mud guards wasn't it? Just a grey cab underneath if I remember right. I think they upgraded the back end sometime during project 8 and that would be what I'd be looking for but I don't know how that would stretch the budget. Either of these will be better than the MF backhoe . My opinion only. There are others here who know the facts better than me.

how about 2cx street master. Maybe budget again but they hold their value well.

Just done a bit of homework and it seems they changed the slewing arrangement at project 12.

Around `96 ish I think, I drove a `p` reg one with the new slewing rams, and a couple of other cosmetic changes, different headlamps and works lights where one that comes to mind.
