Ifor GH1054 for me. It’s great and tows really well in my opinion. Few things I’d like Ifor to change but they are very small things and just me being fussy. The 8026 fits on there lovely, having the right vehicle to tow goes along way too though!

And what is the right tow vehicle? I can never find the perfect vehicle for 3.5t towing tbh- all a compromise.

7.5 tonner
Unfortunately will be the ranger, due to licence and all the other stuff. Hopefully can get everything on the trailer rather than wishing I had a flat bed van

This is why I’ve persisted with my 110 hicap. Simply so I can keep all the attachments and buckets in the rear tub and have just the digger bare on the trailer. I think a lot of the other pickups have limited train weight once you start putting weight in the truck..

Yeah your right. But then the main reason I have 2.8t is because Its the biggest thing I can tow behind the truck. If going down the route of additional licenses and operators licence, I’d want a fair bit bigger than 7.5t to make it all seem worth the extra hassle?
yes and no ......
with the right license (pre '97 pass) and the limited mileage you'd be doing, (negotiated inspection regime), the O license is the hardest part and not so bad on a restricted one ;)

Ifor GX126 with full side kit, comes in very handy as you can load it up, I got a custom mesh net made for the top so it keeps everything tidy 👍🏼 May consider selling it, be two years old in June.

Im yet to find a one trailer does everything so we are currently running 5 car trailers and 2 tractor trailers

we used to use big 12 foot bateson platform trailer for moving 3 ton and dumpers etc

was ok but weight is high up and ramps arent great and a faf every time you want to load or unload

so got the batesons big plant trailer with full ramp makes loading and towing so much easier and quicker, tows well but is wider than pickup and have kerbed it once or twice and with 3 tons on bends the rims eek 😱

new tipper is proving good but is heavy towing around daily at 1100kg empty so kills mpg but has been super handy, dug 3 big loads out my drive last sunday and took it to local job we are on to tip, cage sides great for brash etc and can move 1.5 ton on it

weve a challenger mini digger trailer and an ifor mini digger trailer handy because theyre small and light and easy to turn rd etc and can be left on jobs more eaily than the theft magnents like the tipper etc good for moving whackers and flloor saws etc

i wouldn't have wanted to drag the 3 tonner far to be honest and that's with the 3L iveco tugging it. don't think it ever changed upto 8th when towing it, 6th all the time.
That's to be expected though mate, you're doubling the load on it! If it was designed to run at 7t train weight constantly then the gears would be closer together and 8 would top out where 6 does now.

I was worried about towing the E27, but the Ifor GH1054 makes it a pleasure. I have a 2007 Ranger, chipped to around 160HP with single mass flywheel and I fitted airbags the other day which made a massive difference. I can hit 50 pretty quick on an open road, and it's plenty pokey enough round the lanes too.

The Iveco 2.3 is a little slower with it, but rock solid.

one comment Doob, as devil's advocate..... Ferodo's old slogan many years ago was " your right to speed is your ability to stop" ;)
