3.5-4 ton V's 6 ton machine.

Hi all,

What's your opinion on the following. 3.5-4 ton versus a 6 ton machine. Thinking of changing our 3 ton demo machine in the new year, want to go a size or two up basically to fit the next size of Rototilt up I.e the R2.
My opinion of a 4 ton machine is that it's a fatter 3 ton machine. Harder to move and not much more productive. But that's just my opinion. A 5 or 6 tonner would be good but A lot more money and just for a demo machine would be hard to justify.

What's your thoughts. Would a 4 ton machine be harder to sell on?

I ideally would love a small 6 ton rubber duck...... but crazy money new and hard to find s/h.

What's everyone's thoughts?

Go down the middle with a 5 tonner. if you have a tilty and some attachments you can still shift with a 12ton 4 wheeler truck.

If it’s a demo machine I’d have thought you’d want to be at the heavier end of the tilty’s spec ideally. Isn’t the R2 a bit heavier than the R20 I’ve got? I’ve even considered some extra counterweight on the TB260 (but that’s more of an issue when the tree-shear is on tbh).
I’d have thought you could spec something up, run it as a demo for 6-12 months and probably export it for next to no depreciation if you supply yourself the tilty at cost mate. Or just keep building/selling them as a package.

Spec. it with VA as well and doubt you'd have any trouble shifting it on .... talk to Tom Lomax, 'bout a Euro
as for the 6t duck .... have you played with one????

The R2 is slightly heavier but only a few kgs. The 3 tonner will decide if it's cost effective to spec them and sell them..... but that's the plan

We have a local dealer and i have a look in if im passing...... they seem well specced up but paintwork has been abismal on 2 or 3 years old on the ones ive seen

Had a look through mascus this morning at used machines from Eurocomach and none of them seem to be suffering from the poor paintwork I saw on the couple of used examples at my local place so maybe they had just been totally abused - I havent seen any about round here yet or even heard much about them good or bad, if they are a good machine it would be great to have a local dealer ... i'll call in for a closer look and maybe see if I can get a small machine on demo from them

Had quote at 50k for 6 tonner with tab and 6 way dozer blade that includes a hitch and 3 buckets and the eurocomach 6 tonner was same dimensions as my 5 tonner for access being 2m wide

So a TAB and 6 way blade basically cost £15k.

Got a real good price on one with a tab boom... can't remember exactly but I think high 30s

Not a Eurocomach - other manufacturers’ 6 tonners can be had for around £35k IME.
