Good news exactly 1 year later ( my first week off work since then) . The gearbox is back in. with a new heatexchanger. Had to make a bracket to go over the driveshaft to the pump cause the exchanger would sag a little and rub on the shaft.

The first run didn't go without a few little problems. Jumping out of forward after 100 yards, but also no electrics working but that was traced back to forgetting tightening the new cables from the battery to the starter i hope. And the transmission pressure warning light and buzzer kept beeping at me.
I could see myself dropping the box again and taking another year o_O, but after plugging in a pressure gauge and getting 10bar mainline pressure like the workshop manual suggests, i concluded the pressure switch seems to be broken. So a new switch on monday and i think the repair is a succes.

It’s what I do!
where's your spare fan belt cable tied in place, out of the way .... lot of work to change if it goes on you without a spare in place
A nice way of JCB to tell you that the belt is likely to break and it’s a right bastard to change so we have tied another one on ready! When that breaks it will be someone else’s🤭

Mine is a lot worse than that.
Some twat replaced the uni's and put the X in backwards.
It works fine, but no way to get a grease gun in there without unbolting one end of the shaft (either end will do).
"The book" says to grease all the uni's every 1000 hours, so I'll replace the fan belts at the same time.
