more to do with the springs than the actual axles i'd wager ...... 300Ks difference in axle build'd not warrant totally different design of the actual axle
Yes the 1800 axles are longer than the lighter ones only from when we collapsed a axle on the back of our 2.6t Graham Edwards tipper we could only go one size bigger and not two because the axle was longer so wouldn't fit under the trailer.we did end up with different break shoes on the front axle and the back one

He needs an attachment trailer- seriously that's what I do with my 2.8 tonner- take it bare to jobs and have a small tipping trailer with all the attachments and stuff in it- if you work your jobs geographically it's easy to just drop the digger at the next job in the evening and turn up the following morning with the attachments- only way to really do the 2.8tonner behind a truck legally

Or get a bigger tow truck so the attachments can go in the back. I carry buckets in the Iveco. Post banger is an issue but I know when it will be needed and run it out separately as one suggest.

Yeah that would be best really- trouble is I need 4x4 really for much of my work. Have done it in the past with the 110 hicap but always feels a bit cruel to it.

Having gone from an old Disco 300tdi to the Iveco I do miss having 4 wheel drive at times. Usually just in the yard!! I would love an Iveco 4x4
