He's likely checking unvented cylinder expansion vessels.
I bet noah had 1.5 bar on his ark ffs.
works fine for me and that's the required pressure for the Grant boiler

Just bought some milwaukee 12v ones for the other half of the team that like red tools. Will be interesting to see how they shape up. Usually just recharging 18-24 l expansion vessels to 45psi so probably okay for those..

I’ve got a 12v Milwaukee one for doing exactly that, plus the odd tyre here and there.

why 45 PSI ?

Precharge pressure on unvented cylinder expansion vessels is normally 3bar, allthough I’ve had some that are 4bar+

Our hosepipes keep freezing
do you mean water hose or air hose?

The flow rate of the small compressors is not high, so if sealed the 'outlet' of the hose and ran the compressor up to decent pressure - then cracked the outlet, you'd clear just about everything from the hose.

Most unvented hot water cylinders have require the expansion vessels to be charged to around 3 bar (may vary downwards depending on site conditions) often fitted high up on the wall in airing cupboards so even with a long hose can still be hard work with a track pump. Track pump still preffered option for small heating vessels though.
