12/24v battery charger

The whole point of a smart charger is that they know surely? My CTEK never gives me any trouble regardless of state of battery..

I`ve tried two, if say the battery is down to 9 volts they decide its a 6 volt fully charged so wont turn on, I've ended up fooling it by putting another 12 volt battery in parallel to start it charging 12 volt, then remove the good battery.
It would be easier to repossess my conventional charger that someone borrowed and forget where it came from

Sounds like a rubbish smart charger- what brand is it?

6v fully charged should read about 6.4v, so 9v is miles off. 9v is also pretty f***ed for a 12v battery, but I've known them come back from it, unless it's 9v because it's dropped a cell?

ive found my ctek excellent. It even revived on old electric fence battery that showed 2v when I pulled it out the shed.

Mine is Draper/same as sealey, had it for 25years plus.
Was about £200 when I bought it. It’s been used on alsorts of stuff, 7.5 ton trucks my 3Cs .
The only thing I don’t like about it is the faffing about changing the leads over from one circuit to the other every time you change from 12 to 24.

yeh my big SIP booster is the same ... ought to have replaced the poles with some dinse sockets really

My ctek lasted 2 years before it stopped working. It wouldn't recognise it had a battery connected.
It hadn't had a hard life either really.
