I wish I had kept my old 3T straight tip when the 3t swivel tip arrived - hydro box is great and yes the swivel has its advantages but it crap for going with the 8t machine .... fecking ditcher on 8t is too big, also it doesnt tip anywhere near steep enough if your facing uphill or its a bit clarty 🤷‍♂️
Might have to get a 6t straight tip but im trying to reduce my amount of kit to maintain not add to it.
Let's hazard a guess it's a thwaites and if so straight tip is no better at discharging it's load

not over the side it wasn't :p:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: ....... my old Thwaites 2.5t Alligator's skip is damned near vertical, full up and just short of the deck ..... can push out with it :giggle:

It is not taken in good humour when you list bulldozing on the list of tasks you have carried out with a dumper on the "experienced worker" ticket
🤔

Tis what's wrong with the job now, a good man on a dumper should rarely need another machine to follow on where they're tipping.

Barford straight tip 6t were good for stock piling and pushing up the pile

See thats the problem @Furniss its a Terriblexx. Possibly the worst shaped swivel skip to ever exist. Great engine and transmission power but hateful skip.
Ironically as a straight tip probably the best 3 ton dumper of their time.

Never understood that lip on the edge and it's on the bigger dumpers, imho it's actually dangerous.
There’s absolutely no good reason for it, other than that the designers don’t understand the product they are drawing

Yes, and they have the biggest skip capacity too.
Used to be thwaites 7000 skip was slightly longer front to back so you could load them with 5ft ditching bucket from front or side but for some reason they decided to change the skip

You see I never get to see/try/hire any of this kit before I buy it .... one of the very few downsides of being hidden away.
I sort of trust companies that have been making the same product for decades to get the basics right ... fooking amazing they dont 🤷‍♂️
