Either will work. Work out your fall say it’s 250mm move the receiver down 250 at your end location making sure to keep the staff in same place then use remote to lower the beam until you hit tone. Job done

We use lecia 860 rugby. And that's pretty much exactly what we do. Even has the remote so is a one man operation. Just need to make sure you have the X and Y axis pointing the right way on the base.

I never bother trying to set the grade on our Stabila, as it’s to restricting on where the unit is set up, its never a perfect world on site.

We have a Topcon RL-H4C. Its a good laser and has the manual grade option, but it doesn't come with a remote. It also has the option on the receiver to show when you are within +/- 50mm, which as Gunners said is really useful.

For anyone interested in the Imex lasers - the 88r is probably the one I’d go for, for about £600 plus the vat you get a laser with dual grade facility as well as the rotary function. One feature I thought was good was that it can also be used to set out 90 degree corners. 5 year extended warranty too

Loving all these gadgets. If I did more building/site work I would deffo spend the money on the same gear as Fred- no brainer.
