This come up on the news feed on my phone this morning,

Crackdown on tractors in Norfolk

Police pulled over two tractor and trailers this week due to the security of the loads. For me the worrying part was that the police did not think that the tractors were not involved in agricultural work. I hope this is not of start of things to come...

Think it just depends who pulls you over as to how far they will throw the book at you!

Moving a site cabin which should be in a skip, behind a fastrac is asking for trouble- which the fella got by the sounds of it!

It's not so much who pulls you, as how f****ng thick you are when your stopped......

The first item is the movement of a agricultural welfare unit...... Perfectly legal..... the parking brake is defective..... not actually illegal.... the tyres are over 10 years old? Again not actually illegal........ and those defective tyres you can almost promise would be arguable in court.

Second item...... Trailer looked defective..... **** off and stop wasting my time, Too higher speed? Prove it.... you can tow a low speed rated trailer behind a High speed tractor provided you don't exceed the trailer's rating. Unsafe loading? Again arguable in court, Damaged and Unaffixed bed boards? Again arguably in court....

Item on the back is a agricultural machine.... there are zero rules about "Essential agricultural activitys" and a good man will flag this in court to start to discredit the officers involved.

This is the problem..... It's so Grey it's unbelievable.... so it won't get to court.

And...the flashy mint new fastrac and lowloader combos will carry on unscathed as they don't "look defective" kin joke

is it me .. or do I only see one strap holding the RTFLT on the trailer ?
as for the "shed " .. amazed the ratchets haven't pulled the lift eyes out of the rotting structure
No one's mentioned the --

Isn’t that only because they assumed it wasn’t for Agri use? I don’t know?

they will almost certainly have asked where it had come from and where it was going ... the wrong answer will be the reason for the quote i'd guess :rolleyes:

for doing that .. yep .. and O license, maybe tacho, white DERV, etc., etc. ..... 's commercial haulage

Peeler told me a few years back that unless it’s for farm work a tractor and trailer should be treated as a lorry. Also told me to just use red diesel and if I ever got caught just oh the fine, because if I put white in that’s admitting to knowing the laws and they will properly screw you over then for licences, tacho etc

Makes sense, I mean everything I do with my tractor is farm work anyway.. got it stuck off-road enough times already 🤦‍♂️

The tractor O license thing is much more grey than you would be told.... Namely because of years of poor "advice" from bobbies about putting white diesel in....... If you where off to court you would have a active defence in the shear amount of times the police have told people they can get away with "put white diesel in and keep the receipt"

The original moral maze.

it's pretty simple, if they're competing with a commercial haulier who has to comply with all the reg.s, they should do so on a level playing field .. end of.

I think that's out of order tbh. I do not understand why it is the drivers who get prosecuted and not the vehicle operator. It's part of the reason the haulage industry is knackered. It seems doubtful that a 22year old owns that entire setup. Or is running entirely independently no one else is mentioned and it makes no suggestion towards a company.
The people prosecuting live in such an amazing little world if they think that everyone in the country is in a position to refuse to carry out tasks.

driver's responsibility to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy at the start of each working day and to report any defects (to himself if it's his :giggle: ) and rectify any dangerous faults before setting off, other wise the vehicle is not roadworthy .. end of
he knew it was in that state and didn't give two ****s
