Mercedes sprinter camper conversion

my 2013 sprinter has been semi retired due to not having 3.5t towing capacity . It's been replaced by a man tge 3.180 with 7000 gtw.

the sprinter needs a wee tidy up but is generally in pretty good nick so I've decided to convert it into a camper for me and mrs p .

I've figured out a layout and will be getting some bits done professionally but the bed which I want to be fixed is leaving me with a bit of a challenge .
id like to fix the bed in with the head at the back door And I'd like it to be suspended about 900mm high .
id like the foot end of the bed to turn into a wee bench seat . Some how I'd like the last 450mm of the bed to be hinged to drop down and become the back of the wee seat .
any ideas on how to achieve this ?

any Advice greatly appreciated
cheers

Vin

Lad I know does them. All out of birch ply.
Piano hinges? Or similar. Then so toggle latches underneath?

What are toggle latches ?

But thinking it through might be best on top recessed.

But then again Ive no idea if we are on the same page 😆 sketch it?

Not sure if relevant but have you seen the panels that take the place of windows and essentially increase the width of the upper rear body, to allow a bed to be installed sideways?

Yes I have but I’ve decided I’d rather have the bed the other way as I’d also like the width as well

However it’s done when it’s in the “bed “ position rather than seat it needs to be structurally strong in order to be able to take the weight of me clambering over it for a nighttime piss !
We will be clambering up it to get in and out of the bed

Piano hinge, if the support is shorter in height than the horizontal piece you can also use a piano hinge on that too so it folds behind the bed section when used as a seat

Have both the bed and seat base hinged, with the bed up, the seat base folded forward to support the bed, or both down to make seat?
I like this idea . Seems the easiest to do . I just need a way to lock it in place when it’s up . Also the seat base can be a bit heavier material to give more strength when it’s supporting the end of the bed !

Under the bed, have two strips the thickness of the seat base material apart, lift the bed slightly more than horizontal, bring the seat vertical, lower the bed onto the seat with a strip each side of the seat base.
