They're only overpriced at the builder's merchants, where every tool or diamond disc is because they know they've got a captive audience. Online they are much cheaper.

Hence why you can tell a chancer. New Ox brand tools mean they realised they needed a really basic tool of the trade that morning whilst at the builder's merchant.

Or they’ve just replaced an old or broken one honest to Christ that’s some conclusion you’ve jumped to

I bought some OX chisels and bolsters once, online of course, they were absolute crap, made of toffee! I vowed never to waste my money on the brand again!

Funny enough, the other morning whilst in the local merchant, I spotted some of these potential chancers perusing the OX display….
They were both picking out the “next” thing they wanted, like they were collecting the whole set! One of them was very excited by the OX sledgehammer, but the way he caressed the ribs in the handle did make me wonder if he had other things in mind besides it’s intended use? Incidentally, said sledgehammer is identical to the Sealey ones, just with OX coloured rubber bits on it.

We have got some ox things from the merchants, namely due to been told go down and get whatever you need to get the job done and stick it on their account. Similarly while there we only picked up the spax screws and not the cheapo ones either.

Some people just like all of their tools to match. My aim is to have something from every tool manufacturer going that isn’t Chinese. Must Be nearly there.

Good policy few lesser know brands about that are ok.
To say all of ox is crap is a tad harsh, it's on par with normal Stanley etc . Some of their plastering/brickie stuff is ok as that was their original line.
It's not as good as the likes estwing or hultafors imo.
But they've nailed builders merchant market.

That's normal behaviour for 10 year old kids spent my childhood acquiring tools

I always use a 14lb sledge hammer use to take it on site people use to pick it up and soon drop it and go to there van and bring out a 7lb hammer
at Wyatts we had a 28lb sledge hammer to knock out track pins and we would pick it up with sack barrow

I don't have a mixer we just use a barrow a shovel and a labourer. I that chancer or not.

And those ox sledge hammers are aweful. In fact most plastic handled tools a pretty nasty to weald in comparison to a nice wooden shaft.

I have a 3lb sledge with a 1ft wooden handle instead of a club hammer and have to keep an eye on it as everyone always wants to borrow it instead of there club hammers

My dad has a 28lb sledge did his shoulder in using it all the time on slogging spanners

To be fair my battered mixer is knocking on 18 years old

My old one was similar vintage. It got a bit rotten and one of the foot on the stand disintegrated.
I was using it until one day , just as the customer came over for a chat , it fell over and started rolling along the lawn as if it was bored and wanted a walk.
It was retired soon after that.

Yes, I've only got a 14lb sledge on the truck. No one ever pinches it or runs off with it.

yeh I've got tools nearly as old as me too .... got a 50 yr old Weller heat gun soldering iron ... superb tool .... also got quite a few that're older than me too in fact, thinking about it, quite a lot are Gordon, Gedore, Britool, Elora, King Dick, all sorts

Yes, I've only got a 14lb sledge on the truck. No one ever pinches it or runs off with it.

my favorite is a 7lb-er with an 18 inch handle .... just don't miss the chisel/drift
