I think the MK/TK 380 Diesel had a larger box, where as the twin wheel CF and 4 pot TK used the same small box, yes power steering was all in the upper arms, and if I remember rightly, we had to steer into the bend and out of it! Very little camber angle🤨
yeh they were a handful in the steering dept., especially loaded .... used to lift the front up on mine, warm the swivels and pump the grease in .... only way to get a good dose into the swivels .. made a big difference to the steering ... only ever owned the 330 - 6 pot motors in TKs and a 550 in a Coles 12/14 crane

😊 yeah TK 3 ton tippers used to put the load more on the back end to get power steering, did quite a few king pin kits on them, they too were 330/6’s on post office telephones we only had the option of 4cyls or 4 cylinder! The Leyland red lines ran 6’s 👍🏻

had a 4 pot TK once ... was a nice little truck, but not a lot of guts loaded ... the 330 was a much better vehicle ... done a lot of miles in a 6 pot Leyland Terrier too, which pulled relatively well ... the Redline were weird looking thing and an awkward cab to get in and out of :)

P.O ones weren’t to bad to get into they had devised a crew cab with square doors behind the front wheels, like getting into an aircraft cockpit😊👍🏻 There were loads of the old TK’s in horse box conversions about!

I’d forgotten about the 4cylinder TK’s. Mind you, I think the CF’s had the same ally box as the VX’s and Ventura’s, certainly the petrol ones.

yeh I'd forgotten about the one I had .... Had a pantechnichon body on it ... made a tidy mobile shed ... was fine for light duties and drove nicely, but didn't keep it long .... was a steal off a trader I used to deal with and did nicely out of it .. eventually became a donkey box

That old 3.3 petrol lump did a good turn too, in Crestas, Victors and Bedford RL’s

The CF’s took the slant 4, 1.8 or 2.3. I doubt there’d have been room for the 3.3, it was a helluva long lump.

😊 CF didn’t use a 3.3 I meant the 4 pot TK box was used on the CF twin wheel chassis, but nodoubt somewhere someone would have put a 3.3 in one! 👍🏻
